Remember the fresh aroma of sun-dried fabrics draped on clotheslines in the backyard?

Ah, those were the days. Before mechanical dryers and neighborhood covenants banning “visual litter” in upscale suburbs.

Old School Laundry methods ain’t allowed in those so-called “green” enclaves of “eco-friendly” households.

Mcmansions in gated communities don’t countenance multicolored linens and clothes flapping within view of Beemer and SUV owners “committed (according to developers) to creating environmentally sensitive communities fostering a way of life we can all live with for generations to come.”

Just ignore the fact that clothes dryers consume six percent of the electricity used in American households.

Develop a dry sense of humor. (7 OCTOBER 2007)
