Heavens.

First, Disneyland is forced to dig a deeper water channel because heavier riders are causing boats to bottom out in the “It’s a Small World” attraction.

Now airlines are considering imposing “fat taxes” on rotund passengers because excess weight drives up fuel consumptions and costs.

Increasing numbers of passengers need seatbelt extensions or have problems wedging into coach seats designed to comfortably accommodate only leprechauns, jockeys and lingerie models.

Just how would airlines determine “excess” weight? By calculating the height, gender and body fat of passengers at the check-in counters?

Face it: America is getting bigger because of carbs, steroids, lack of exercise and maturing pelvic structures.

Airlines themselves need to go on capacity diets by widening and reducing the number of seats crammed into present and future passenger planes. (18 NOVEMBER 2007)
