Finally.

States are outlawing texting on wireless telephones while driving a vehicle on public streets and highways.

The bad news? The states consider motorist texting a secondary offense not ticket-worthy unless another traffic violation is involved.

In other words, texting motorists won’t be pulled over unless they’re doing something else stupid and dangerous.

And a growing number of states is outlawing any motorist use of wireless phones while driving, although most of the targets now are drivers under age 18.

No word yet on whether good ol’ boys yapping on citizen-band radios while driving fall into any prohibited multi-tasking zone. (30 DECEMBER 2007)
