Today female corrections officers routinely supervise, frisk and inspect male inmates and male officers routinely supervise, frisk and inspect female inmates. What's going on?
Thanks to affirmative-action and equal-opportunity laws, court decisions and labor negotiations, inmates are now forced to be fully clothed in their cells, cover themselves when using their cell toilets and sleep in their underwear to accommodate cross-gender decorum in the Big House.
Rather than insist that only male officers supervise male prisoners and only female officers supervise female prisoners--the former rational approach--penal authorities have caved into the rants of so-called reformers.
You say that inmates are getting what they deserve for breaking laws? Wait a minute. Many of the inmates in jails are undergoing or awaiting trials and haven't been convicted.
Should those innocent inmates be subjected to lecherous attention from officers of the opposite sex as part of their punishments?
Why not just guarantee that only lesbian officers could guard men and only gay officers could guard women. Now that's true affirmative action.(9 JANUARY 2000).
