No-no lists keep growing in America’s schools.

First was gum, then tobacco, then alcohol and drugs, then weapons, then gang colors.

Then sagging pants, then see-through blouses, then exposed belly buttons.

Then micro-minis, then hugging, kissing and holding hands, then deodorants.

Then mobile phones, then simulated-sex dancing.

The latest ban involves flip-flops, the modern version of shower shoes that annoyingly slap the bottoms of feet while walking.

Educators claim the latest ban isn’t about exposed digits, but about safety and preparing students for acceptable behavior and attire in the world of work.

Expect schools next to ban body piercings, tattoos and other adornments usually found in trailer parks, bordellos and hobo camps. (20 APRIL 2008)
