Let’s think about some of the Obama Administration’s likely cabinet choices and other major appointments.

After all, the GOP doesn’t have a chance to retain the White House, let alone recapture Congress. Think pocket-book issues such as fuel prices, unemployment and mortgage foreclosures, folks.

Anyway, Hill won’t get the veep nod. Gov. Bill Richardson (D-N.M.) has a good shot. Think Hispanic votes.

Trial lawyers go for the throat. And former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) as attorney general would have the necessary gonads.

For bipartisan reasons, former army general and Republican secretary of state Colin Powell would be perfect as secretary of defense. And former Republican New York City mayor Rudi Giuliani would be a natural as secretary of homeland security.

Former Democratic Vice President Al Gore has the cred to succeed as secretary of energy and Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), a foreign-affairs wonk, would be perfect for secretary of state.

And Hill? She’d be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Bubba Bill would be a natural as America’s ambassador to the United Nations. (8 JUNE 2008)
