It’s hard to imagine any stiff opposition to one proposed federal law.

You know, the one banning television ads for erectile-dysfunction drugs between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

If U.S. Rep. Jim Moran (D-Virginia) has his way, those obnoxious innuendos about four-hour woodies will largely deflate on TV broadcasts regulated by the Federal Communications Commission.

Which means the ads will appear unsheathed only on cable and satellite channels not covered by FCC standards.

Moran says his failed attempt in 2005 to ban the ads was because the feds were subsidizing advertising for the drugs by covering their prescriptions under Medicare.

Then, lo and behold, Congress in 2007 stopped Medicare from covering ED prescriptions because they were for “recreational drugs.”

But really because retiring horny Boomers would eventually bankrupt the health-care system. (10 MAY 2009)
