Long for the days when men were addressed as Sahib, Sir, Lord or Master?

Those monikers were eventually replaced by Mac, Bub, Mister, Pal, Daddyo and Ya'll.

But, as the world turns, so do relics of the near past.

Enter Dude, Bro and Man as modern substitutes for given name or surname.

Dude used to describe a western greenhorn and Bro was code for male sibling. Man meant an adult male or what you did when aiming and firing a howitzer.

Nevermind that those new nicknames originated with skateboarders, surfboarders and other slackjaws.

Those braindead illiterates, after all, now are America's celebrated leaders of the Tea Party and John Birch Society.

And that's a fact, Jack. (19 SEPTEMBER 2010)
