Stupidity makes no class distinctions.

Wealth won't protect the brainless, the foolhardy, the oblivious.

Just ask Scott and Jean Adam of Marina del Rey, Calif., owners of the sailing yacht S/V Quest.

Wait. You can't. They're dead.

They and crewmates Phyllis Macay and Bob Riggle of Seattle were killed by Somali pirates after 19 of the cutthroats seized the vessel three days earlier in the Indian Ocean.

Their deaths came while four American warships monitored the yacht during hostage negotiations.

Some 13 pirates survived the boarding and recapture of the yacht by Navy Seals and will face trial in the United States.

The hijacking occurred after the Quest left a protective convoy of small vessels.

The two couples--on a mission to distribute Bibles--were aware of the dangers they faced. (27 FEBRUARY 2011)
