Educators really ought to be evaluated for common sense.

There ought to be "zero tolerance" for stupidity as well as weapons in school classrooms and campuses.

Students have been suspended, expelled and arrested for pointing fingers and saying "bang" on playgrounds and for carrying nail files and peashooters.

Now comes the arrest of an 11-year-old student for drawing stick figures of himself with a gun pointed at four stick figures with the words "teachers must die."

The doodles were part of an approved therapy to vent anger caused by his attention-deficit disorder.

After the school later pressed charges, police in Arvada, Colo. went to his home and arrested him for misdemeanor interference with staff and students at an educational facility.

According to his therapist and parents, "Tim" drew the pictures to let out angry emotion--not to threaten anyone.

Meanwhile, "Tim" has a juvenile criminal record and his parents have spent thousands of dollars in legal expenses. (6 MARCH 2011)
