Want proof that a vast right-wing conspiracy exists?

Just look at the orchestrated Republican movement to emasculate public-employe unions in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, Idaho and Kansas.

GOP governors and legislative majority leaders say the neutering is needed to help trim forecasted state-budget shortfalls of billions of dollars.

Even though the unions early on acknowledged the fiscal crisis and agreed to major wage and benefit concessions.

It isn't about money, folks. It's about a conservative agenda to inhibit future union support of liberal and moderate candidates for state and national offices.

If those Republican lawmakers were truly interested in saving public dollars, they would not have simultaneously approved no-bid contracts and reduced or waived corporate taxes during fiscal emergencies.

America, meanwhile, drifts closer to becoming a banana republic where the rich get richer and the rest of us get poorer. (13 MARCH 2011)
