Where is the Federal Communications Commission when you need it?

Certainly not insisting that broadcast advertising be truthful.

Certainly not insisting that physicians, lawyers and other pitchmen in commercials actually are the physicians, lawyers and others they claim to be.

Yeah, you're smart enough to spot the phonies, but many consumers are trusting idiots who believe everything they're told.

Advertisers depend on that gullibility to sell products and services.

Federal laws ought to require broadcast advertisers to use authentic individuals or prominently display the disclaimer "Participants in this ad are paid spokespersons."

Not in fine print or shown for a nanosecond, but boldly and during the entire commercial.
