Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), jug-eared chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee, can't stop stepping on the "third rails" of politics.

Not content with advocating the emasculation of Medicare and other popular social programs in his proposed federal spending plan, Ryan accuses leaders of America's armed forces of not giving "true advice" about their budget needs.

Ryan, who has not served a day in uniform, accuses the generals and admirals of lying and surrendering to President Obama's proposed reduction of 2013 Pentagon budget spending.

The right-winger wants to cut social programs to make up the $600 billion in mandated five-year defense cuts.

Ryan panders to office-holders of both parties across the country--concerned about local jobs-- who lobby against an end to producing fighter jets, tanks and other expensive weapons not wanted or needed by military or naval forces.

The Ryan budget bill has passed the GOP-dominated House, but will die as usual in the Democrat-majority U.S. Senate.

What won't die is the shop-worn Republican campaign accusation that Democrats are weak on national defense.

The battle continues. (1 APRIL 2012)
