Gun nuts say their confiscated weapons will have to pried from cold dead hands.

They'll die defending their Second Amendment rights to bear arms as United Nations black helicopters hover overhead.

But why aren't Americans just as militant and defiant when state governments deliberately suppress their constitutional rights to vote on candidates and ballot measures?

Republican legislators and governors in scores of states recently enacted legislation requiring voters to have state-issued photo-identification cards.

The thinly disguised conspiracy, promoted by the right-wing American Legislative Exchange Council, allegedly is necessary to stop voter fraud--virtually nonexistent anywhere in America.

In reality, the legislation "is going to allow Gov. Romney to win the state," according to Republican majority leader Mike Turzai of Pennsylvania.

Targets of the new "poll tax" are millions of minorities, students and impoverished voters who can't afford weapons to pry from their cold dead hands. (22 JULY 2012)
