"Don't ask me about abortion or (U.S. Rep.) Todd Akin (R-Okla.)."

That's not how journalism works, Willard, even though the Denver television reporter caved before her abbreviated interview with the presumptive presidential nominee for Republicans.

Willie's refusal to discuss the touchy issues created its own public firestorm searing reeling GOP campaigns at state and national levels.

Akin, a candidate for the U.S. Senate and close House colleague of vice-presidential hopeful Paul Ryan, skewed himself and fellow conservative candidates by using peudoscience to diminish rape as a rationale for abortion.

Akin said women possess some sort of hormonal force field that prevents conception in "legitimate rapes."

Nevermind. The GOP platform still opposes abortion even the case of rape, incest and health risk to the mother. (26 AUGUST 2012)
