Think again if you believe voter-ID laws are the only right-wing tactic to suppress balloting by minorities, the impoverished and students.

Think of poll watching sponsored by Tea Party zealots in 39 states permitting voter challenges by private citizens--without evidence.

The True the Vote group denies it is racially motivated, even though poll-watching has its roots in Jim Crow states.

Its training sessions allege that election officials are under immense pressure to let undocumented immigrants vote and allow other voters to cast multiple ballots.

Under the law, Americans face jail and fines for fabricating police reports or falsely claiming lost possessions in a disaster.

But there are no laws against drumming up charges of voter fraud when no such fraud exists. Or challenging voters without evidence. (16 SEPTEMBER 2012)
