American athletes and fans don't like to compete on the world level.

That's why many of our traditional major-league "sports"--baseball, basketball, football and NASCAR--were deliberately designed to involve only Americans.

Baseball was adapted from cricket, football from rugby and NASCAR from road racing. Basketball was invented out of thin air.

And even though baseball, football and basketball are played in a few other countries, America's "world" series and national tournaments don't involve international competitors.

NASCAR was designed to allow low IQs to spectate and drive stock cars as fast as possible around an oval while constantly turning left.

Real road races involve Formula 1 and other sports cars tooling along real streets while negotiating hairpin turns at reasonable speeds in Europe, America and other venues.

What about soccer? Some Americans view it as a radical foreign entity, even though it now is the most popular team sport in the United States and our national teams are now competitive in world venues for men and women. (26 MAY 2013)
