Run into any young immigrants or refugees with anglicized surnames in America lately?

First and last names have become the new frontiers of individualism, of uniqueness, of separatism.

The more exotic sounding, the more disjointed in structure, the more difficult to pronounce--the better.

You don't find x or z in traditional American monickers.

You find them in abundance in imported last names of newbies who frequently wave the opportunity to Americanize their names when obtaining green cards or citizenship.

Many American parents coin new given names, choose silly nicknames or assign names never before used to identify humans.

Hospitals and offices of vital statistics can balk at obscene names on birth documents, however.
