Pay student-athletes?
Aren't they already getting "paid"?
Full-ride scholarships already provide free tuition, fees, books, room and board, tutors, exercise facilities, clothing allowances and other amenities to favored jocks at America's colleges and universities.
Those freebies amount to thousands of dollars in aid.
Add in the Mickey Mouse courses and majors that lead to academic degrees and you have corruptive benefits envied by politicians everywhere.
Zealous alums are providing the funds to pay coaches more than university presidents and assistant coaches more than department heads and deans.
Most of today's institutions of higher learning exist solely to stroke the egos of graduates by providing winning teams to brag about.
