You probably know that the Scopes criminal case about the teaching of evolution was called the "monkey trial."

And we know that the "hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil" admonishment always features three monkeys (actually apes).

But why is a U.S. House of Representatives hearing called a "monkey court"? Did its Republican members believe subhuman primates caused the buggy Healthcare.gov website?

No, it's because U.S. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) believes asking website visitors about their financial status violates laws protecting patient privacy.

U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) correctly pointed out that health information is not at play because preexisting conditions are not considered.

Pallone then referred obliquely to GOP attempts to monkey with Obamacare.

Which makes monkey's uncles of Congressional Republicans. (27 OCTOBER 2013)
