The only thing more frightening than a malware bot infecting your computer is dealing with security techs at your ISP (internet service provider).

First comes a huge pop-up invading your desktop whenever you access a website. Xfinity's Constant Guard system asks you to click on a button for ways to deal with the bot.

It doesn't work.

Xfinity's (Comcast) websites don't display customer-service telephone numbers in favor of enqueries through e-mail or accessing frequently asked questions formats for answers.

Eventually you find a C-S number and proceed through a maddening array of options, none of which matches your needs.

Punching "O" repeatedly finally connects you to a live person, who transfers you to another live person--the dreaded security tech.

You may have the patience of Job, but trying to understand a Bombay tech with a thick accent will push you over the edge.

You just hang up and hire an IT (internet technician) to fix the problem. (2 FEBRUARY 2014)
