Republicans tend to make hasty judgments about people.

Such as the disastrous selection of Half-Gov. Sarah Palin as their veep candidate in 2008.

And now hailing Nevada cattle rancher Cliven Bundy as a state-rights "patriot" for standing up to federal authority.

Applauding him were Faux News, U.S. Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ken.) and Dean Heller (R-Nev.) and Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas)--among many other conservatives.

Oops.

Bundy owes Uncle Sam (American taxpayers) $1 million in unpaid grazing fees--making him a welfare cowboy.

And he used armed gun nuts to prevent seizure of his 500 cattle as court-ordered payment of the debt.

Compounding his distain for government is Bundy's blatant bigotry--especially toward "negroes."

He told the New York Times that African-Americans were "better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things."

That'll probably end up in the GOP national platform in 2016. (27 APRIL 2014)
