War isn't about religious or political differences.
It's about power and economics.
Protestants and Catholics--both Christians--didn't kill each other in Northern Ireland because of religious differences.
They killed each other because of societal favoritism, because of discrimination in employment and public services.
Shiites and Sunnis--both Muslims--don't kill each other in the Middle East because of religious differences.
They kill each other for the same reasons as the Irish.
Power and economics fuel all conflicts. Religious and political differences are used solely to inflame the masses, to recruit fighters, to justify the carnage and destruction.
Americans protested involvement in the Vietnam conflict with chants of "We will not die for Standard Oil."
