IS THAT GREAT JOB, OR WHAT?

If we received only a nine percent (9%) job-approval rating, we'd be looking for employment elsewhere.

If we're members of the denigrated U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, however, we'd probably be re-elected and continue to receive:

$174,000 annually, fully paid medical and dental insurance, free airline transportation, car, subsidized dining, haircuts, laundry, housing, solon reatments and access to exclusive gym and tennis facilities.

We wouldn't have to "work" during August, two weeks around Easter, on Fridays or weekends.

We'd have access to insider information about Wall Street trading opportunities and receive retirement benefits after serving only five years.

Not bad for just having to say "no" to legislation proposed by the other side, spending most of the time soliciting re-election campaign solicitations or being wined and dined by lobbyists at exclusive steak houses.

Hell, Congresspersons don't even have to read or write legislation. Staff members summarize the salient points and put words in the mouths of their employers.

Is that a great job, or what? (16 NOVEMBER 2014)
