Graffiti now has a noble purpose?

Yup. But not the kind that defaces innocent public and private property.

The noble kind that uses permanent markers to obliterate those obnoxious and intrusive "indoor-billboard" advertising messages adorning produce, shopping carts, schools, shoe soles, walls of restroom cubicles and other inappropriate venues.

The noble kind that uses paintball missiles to discombobulate those video billboards that distract and endanger motorists.

Interstate freeways may no longer have vulgar billboards ruining the scenery, but increasing numbers of private automobiles using those highways are covered with special vinyl wrapping carrying ads.

The visual (and audio) garbage, called "clutter" and "ad creep," is polluting America.

Hey, if you don't have a permanent marker or paintball gun, just piss on it instead. Commercial speech isn't protected by the First Amendment.(26 NOVEMBER 2000)
