Who We Are...
The House Of Fools was started by Joy, which is why she is it's leading lady. She discussed it with Katherine, who was caught up in her own issues at the time, then with Airna, who launched into it headlong. :) Once Katherine was free of her "other issues", she jumped in too. The first event that all three attended was Egil's Tourney 1996. The house colors came from a jester costume owned by Jonathan Staggerton, who used to wear it at Ren Faires in California, and who attended both Egil's 1996 and 1997 with the House Of Fools. The Progression to Membership was written by Joy (then Jisa) and Airna in 1997. The banner was made by Katherine in the hallway of her apartment building in 1997. The entrance signs and perimeter flags were made by Katherine on her back porch in 1998. The webpage was first created by Katherine and posted online by Joy in April, 1998. (We have always been on Angelfire, I like the format of their website maintenance.) Katherine has been maintaining it since. In 2002, Joy stepped down as a head of house, preferring to be known simply as the founder of the household. She is our princess of fools, and we embrace her presence whenever we are lucky enough to be graced by it. As for our house persona, we are a traveling caravan of entertainers and performers, sometimes more fond of the drink than of the art, but then again, some of us have made drinking an art! :)
