Admission and Administration

• For the 4 year Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree courses, students are selected  through  Orissa state Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
• For admission into the  3 year Master in Computer Application (MCA) courses students are selected through the entrance examination conducted by  IGIT college administration.

Initially the institution was managed and directed by the Govt. of Orissa. Thereafter as per the decision of Govt. of Orissa, the institute came under the management of a registered autonomous society with effect from 01/04/1984. The modern polytechnic, offering Diploma courses in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering was merged with the above society with effect from 01/04/1987 under the nomenclature of "Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang". As such I.G.I.T., Sarang is the only institute in Orissa State offering courses both in degree and diploma streams in Engineering.
