On "Real" Vampires...

I've been noticing in my guestbook a number of people who claim to be "real" vampires, or those who wish to be such. Hey, I'm all for the fantasy, and roleplaying, but some people seem to take it waaay too far. Sure, there are medical conditions that imitate the peculiarities of literary vampires. After all, most folklore has some basis in fact. However, literary vampires are just that. They are NOT REAL. And if you think you are one, you need the kind of help that I cannot provide, help that would best be provided by a professional in an institutional setting. If you want to ask me about the role playing game Vampire: The Masquerade, or talk about Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, or vampire tv shows or movies, cool. Let's talk.

As my husband puts it: "If, for some strange reason, you think that you are a vampire, put some thought to this line of reasoning: why contact a stranger, who might have their own agenda? If you truly are a "Creature of the Night" as is professed, then wherein lies the logic of making contact via a guestbook? Such means are hardly a secured line of communication, and are prone to misinterpretation.. As such, it's not what could be referred to as the most effective use of one's options."

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming...
I'm just really annoyed by all the little "real" vampire wannabes making a
mockery out of my website. There are many resources for you out on
the web. Many places to find others of your kind. This is not one of them.

Thank you for your time,

Kate
