Harken to Me 4-9-98

Harken to Me

Harken to me
Oh breath of Wind,
Sweep away the tears
And all the fears,
That torment my every
Waking moment.
Douse the flames that burn my soul
And rip my heart to shreds.
While I watch
As I'm torn from
Rock I grew upon,
The window that is now open blinds me with
The light of day,
Arousing in me a
New agonizing terror,
The realization of what
I was only too afraid to
admit tugs at the grief
deep within my being.
The sand I stand in
Deepens with every tug to get free I make.
When all I need is a
Couple branches so near my fingertips
Brush theirs.
How far will I go?
How long before I
am a mere whisper
of a memory in
the minds whose eyes felt my presence?
I will happily return,
But only to open arms.
Hold to me tight and I'll never let go.
Give me love and
Compassion and so
It will be returned,
Just as it is better to give than receive.
Listen to me and I'd
Gladly listen to you
Harken to me,
Oh breath of Wind!
