Longing for YesterYear

oh how I long for yesteryear, when in my youth I ran up and down the basket ball hard woods swift as a deer.

I could leap and jump
stuff the ball through the hoop.
How I loved the roar of the crowds cheer.

Oh how I long for yesteryear
I still want to put on my football gear.
On the grid iron dressed as a modern day knight.
I always gave the opposing team a terrible fright.
I'd launch the pigskin for a touchdown over

sixty yards in flight
then I'd play defensive and tackle the

enemy runners with fury
and all my might.

Oh how I long for yesteryear
when I played baseball, no pitcher in the

league gave me any fear.
I'd hit the horsehide so hard and far
it shot off my bat like a rockets red glear.
Oh how I long for yesteryear
I loved being so cocky and sure.

Now I am old, crippled and lame
can not even walk without a cane.
Oh how I long for yester year.
All I have is my memories to share.
