To join the Point 31 Webring, you must follow this procedure exactly. A webring (for those who don't know) is a collection of websites. These websites are linked together by ring fragments placed on eac site in the ring. Visitors can click on "next" or "previous" to get from one site to another If you don't have a site, there's no need to join the ring. You're looking for the Support section. Fill out the form below. By filling out this form, you are submitting you site to the queue. Basically, you are putting your site in for consideration, meaning your site still has to "pass the test." Before filling out the form, please read what sites will not be admitted to the ring. |
Add the rings' HTML frag and logo to your page The graphics allow a visitor to go from your page to the next, as if he we walking along a street, visiting each store as he passes them. You must add the html fragment to your site before you will be added to the ring. Until then your site will] remain in the queue.
E-Mail the Ringmaster You must e-mail me (point_31@yahoo.com) when you're ready. Why? It is the biggest hassle in the world to constantly check sites for the frag. Your site is probably not the only one in my queue. There are many, many others. By being "ready", I mean that your site is ready to be looked at to "pass the test." Your site will then be evaluated.
If you wait too long or "fail" If your site has been in the queue for more than two months, it probably will be removed I am not a mean person, but 30 sites in my queue isn't a fun thing to go through. I am being very lenient with a two month period on this. If you are removed, it does not mean that you can't apply again, however. If you send me the mail but are never notified that you were added to the ring it's for one of the reasons below.
If you are expired or removed from the queue, you must remove the ring graphics. When you apply again, a new set will be issued to you*.
* this is because the ring graphics contains a unique id # that may change when you re-apply
The Ringmaster will only add your site if it is focused on Orgy, an alternative band, general music, or anything in that general area. (due to the nature of the ring I am very lenient in the area of who joins) The site shouldn't look like a hackyned job to get hits to another part of your site.
Sites not accepted: Personal homepages without any specific content.
Even if you have a page with links to music pages that is not enough. Neither is a paragraph or statement that you are a huge Orgy fan or "i love listening to my radio" - uh uh, nope, won't work - darn right?
Sites with stolen material or bandwith from other sites.
Do you think that background, logo, or nav bar looks nice from another site? If I've seen it before, it's a one-way ticket out of the queue. Remember, I've seen many many sites, so don't think you can get it by me.
If your site contains links to graphics that resides on the server housing another site, that is another type of stealing - bandwith stealing. This slows down the site that you're taking the image from, and sometimes webspace providers put a limit to the amount of bandwith a site can use before charging them extra.
*Always Remember Think before you link*Sites with illegal or offensive material.
Sites that don't spell a band's name right. (It happens)
Hiding your webring graphics.
I shouldn't have to click ten million times to find your webring graphics. The exception to this rule, of course, is "entry" pages. You can, if you are in multiple rings, create a separate page for them.
got it? good. now fill out the pretty form -
*REMINDER* YOU MUST KEEP A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE WEBRING SYSTEM.
