“SOME BROKEN COW-BONES”!

Dear 16,

Is it true that my favorite Young Rider, Gregg Rainwater, broke his foot during filming last year? Say it isn’t so!

Jennifer Walsh,
Wheeling, West Virginia.

Dear Jennifer,

‘Fraid it’s true, Gregg did break his foot last year, but it healed without complications! Gregg wasn’t the only Young Rider to take a beating during that rough first season- both Ty and Travis had knee injuries which had to be operated on, and for a while, Stephen was in a foot cast! Hopefully, it’ll be smoother sailin’ for the riders from hereon in!

TRAVIS- “HAIR” TODAY, GONE TOMORROW!

Dear 16,

Does Travis Fine grow his hair when he’s not acting in The Young Riders, or is he bald in real life too? It doesn’t really matter to me, I think he’s gorgeous that way!

Shawna Potters,
Savannah, Georgia

Dear Shawna,

In real life, handsome Travis Fine does indeed have a glorious, full head of hair, and he grows it when TYR breaks in shooting at different points in the year. He actually prefers to grow it on the long side! Says trendy Travis, “When you have long hair, you get to do fun things with it, like put jell in it and whatnot!”

A FAMILY AFFAIR!

Dear 16,

Is it really true that Josh Brolin is actor James Brolin’s son? I think they look alike! If it’s true, is that how he got into acting? How did he start out?

Cary Mullhem,
Red Bank, New Jersey

Dear Cary,

It is true that Josh is James Brolin’s son. (A funny note: Ty Miller and James Brolin worked together on the set of Hotel, but Ty never met Josh until TYR!) Actually, growing up, Josh had dreams of becoming a writer, not an actor like his dad! But it was in high school that he discovered acting, and from that point on he was hooked! His first major role was in the Steven Spielberg thriller, Goonies, where he played the oldest brother, Brand Walsh. He was only 16 then!

TY MILLER- FROM BELLBOY TO COWBOY!

Dear 16,

My favorite Young Rider is Ty Miller, who plays the Kid. He’s so cute, and he seems like such a good guy! Can you tell me what else he’s been in, before he joined TYR? Thanks!

Aurora Clements
Mt. Gilead, OH

Dear Aurora,

A lot of people feel the same way as you do about Ty! This 26-year-old Granada Hills, CA native started acting in college, first in commercials, and then on several TV series, including Growing Pains and Our House. His big break came when he landed the part of bellboy Eric Lloyd on ABC’s Hotel. The show was cancelled the following year, but soon after this, Ty fortunately found his way to the Arizona desert (TYR is filmed in Mescal, Arizona)!

LONELY COWGIRL?

Dear 16,

I’m a huge fan of TYR, and I tune in every week without fail! I have a question about Yvonne Suhor, who plays Lou McCloud, the only female rider. Does it get hard for her sometimes, being practically the only female in the cast?

Bridget Daniels
Binghamton, New York

Dear Bridget,

You’re right- aside from actress Melissa Leo, who played Emma Shannon on the show, Yvonne is surrounded by guys! Everyone in the cast gets along very well, hanging out together off the set as well as on, but Yvonne’s admitted to 16 that yes, it does get a little lonely. There are times she wishes one of her sisters were around, and together they could just shoot the breeze about clothes ‘n shopping!

WELCOME ABOARD THE PONY EXPRESS!

Dear 16,

Can you give me some info about the new Young Riders cast member, Don Franklin? I think he’s really good! What else has he been in?

Bonnie Grey
Brooklyn, New York

Dear Bonnie,

Before he joined TYR as Noah Dixon, Don appeared regularly on last season’s NBC series, Nasty Boys (He played Al Wheeler.) Other roles for this talented actor have included a recurring part on ABC’s Knightwatch, and he appeared in the movies, The Big Picture and Fast Forward!
