Young Riders
Home for the Holidays!

A Superstar’s article (guessing 1989 or 1990)

Unlike most of your favorite TV shows, The Young Riders isn’t filmed in Los Angeles. The show takes place in the old time West and appropriately enough, is filmed at the Old Tucson Studios in Mescal, Arizona. While on-location work is vital for authenticity, it does take the show’s cast away from home, September to March.

That’s why, when the holidays roll around Ty Miller, Stephen Baldwin, Gregg Rainwater, Yvonne Suhor, Travis Fine, and Josh Brolin, are especially thrilled. Not only do they get to catch a week-long work break, they get to go home! Here’s what they’ll be doin’ this year!

TY & THE REINDEER RANCH

Kid, is trading one ranch for another this Yuletide- he’ll head from the Young Riders homestead to his real-life ranch home in the San Gabriel Valley of California. Though he lives with his older brother Will, Ty won’t be spending much time tending the home fires- he’ll be doing what he always does this season, helping sell Christmas trees!

Ty’s dad has for many years owned and operated several Christmas tree lots- replete with real reindeer on the premises! And every year, ever since he was little, Ty and Will pitched in. Nowadays, with his dad mostly retired, Will’s taken over the business. And even though Ty’s a hotshot TV star, he’s never too busy to haul a great old big pine tree over his shoulder and help make someone else’s Christmas bright!

TRAVIS- HAIR ‘N THERE

For Travis Fine, the best part of getting off for the holidays is not only the chance to speak for extended periods of time, but also to grow back some of his naturally wavy brown hair and take a break from Ike’s baldness. He’ll be visiting family in Atlanta soon!

GREGG AND YVONNE- THEY’LL JUST SAY ‘NO!’

Though both Gregg and Yvonne plan on spending the holiday week with their respective families, there is one other item on their joint agenda: making special appearances on behalf of the Just Say No campaign! This isn’t something new- the two have publicly joined the fight against drugs before. Last June, they rode in Chicago’s big Say No To Drugs parade. Unlike other celebs who rode in convertibles, Gregg and Yvonne did the natural thing and paraded on horseback!

Course, they’ll make time to see their real-life kinfolk too- Gregg will do December in Detroit: that’s where his mom, dad, and three older sisters all live. Since they’re a musical family there’ll be lots of carolling ‘round the Rainwater abode!

For her part, Yvonne plans on splitting her time between mom in Florida and dad in Illinois. Naturally, she’ll see as many of her brothers and sisters as she can! And yes, she’ll be bearing gifts for all!

JOSH AND STEPHEN- FAMILY TIME

As you might expect, the two married riders will be spending the holidays with their immediate families- and they can’t wait! Course, for Josh, whose wife Deborah and son Trevor, live with him in Arizona, separation’s not a problem. But as Trevor grows- he’s nearly three!- Josh can’t ever seem to spend enough time with the little cowdude: the holidays are the perfect time!

Newlywed Stephen, who married Kennya Deodato last June, has plans to spend his time with her, back east, visiting their respective families. Steve and Kennya are from Long Island, New York and that’s where the entire Baldwin clan is congregating. Oldest bro, actor Alec, will no doubt bring his sweetie Kim Basinger. Brothers Billy and Daniel will be there too!
