The show is filmed in Old Tucson, Arizona from July through February- and it gets hot! The guys really swelter in their suede and leather cowboy clothes!
Maybe it’s due to the heat, but one of the riders tells SuperStars: “Not all of us get along all the time- there’s a lot of tension on the set!”
When they are getting along, however, the cast often hangs out together in coffeeshops, bookstores, and in air conditioned movie theaters!
The actors only do some of their own riding- the bucking scenes and more complicated horseplay are done by professional stunt people.
Josh, who plays ‘Wild Bill Hickok’ grew up on a ranch, but admits he hadn’t been on a horse for years when Young Riders came along. “I was saddle sore a lot at first,” he confesses.
Ty, who’s ‘The Kid’, had surgery on his knee recently- but he’s fine now.
Travis, who’s always “Fine” (ha ha!) plays the drums and used to be in a band!
Gregg wants everyone to know his real full name is Gregg (“Not Gregory- that’s why my mom put the extra ‘g’ on the end, so people would know it was Gregg, period.”) Andrew Rainwater.
Stephen, who plays ‘Cody’ offscreen is the most press-shy Young Rider!
Yvonne is a talented stage actress, who can do any accent at all- from Cockney English to Southern to New York!
Josh who was in the movie, The Goonies, loves westerns. One of his biggest disappointments was just missing out ( “I came this close!!!) to a role in the TV mini Lonesome Dove.
Ty grew up north of Los Angeles, in a suburban ranch house where his dad built him a huge tree house.
Yvonne, in real life, has ten brothers and sisters!
Stephen has three brothers- all of whom are actors.

Travis has to shave his head every day to play the bald ‘Ike’. In real life, he has brown, wavy hair- that he usually wears long!
