Homicide: Life On The Street
Off-camera, Melissa Leo looks out of place at a messy squad-room desk, almost too fragile to tote a gun. But roll the camera and she’s Kay Howard, a tough sergeant bemused by the neurotic men around her. “Kay and I both work in a predominantly male environment, but we handle it differently,” says the actress. “I feel isolated quite a lot. There’s a foot-ball in this room that they have never thrown to me. And I’ve begged- begged!” (To get in on the action, she brought in a Hacky Sack.) “Kay has given me all kinds of strength,” Leo adds. “She doesn’t isolate herself. She gets right in there. And that is how she has not only survived but succeeded in this career.”
Stephen Baldwin Tid-Bits
People Magazine 5/19/97
Stephen Baldwin proved that acting can get down and dirty when he got himself trashed on the New York City set of the movie drama One Tough Cop, in which he plays the mob-connected title character. The film which recently wrapped, also stars Christopher Penn and Amy Irving. (Picture that came with this little clipping shows Stephen laying in the mist of garbage bags and trash cans, with a cigarette in his mouth. By his expression, he was either pushed or had to fall back into the trash. He looked very annoyed!)
Wizard Magazine chooses Stephen Baldwin
Anybody a comic book fan? If so, then you might find this interesting. Wizard Magazine has a section called ‘Casting Call’. In that section, they choose actors they think would be the best to play certain comic book characters. Basically, the magazine states that if a movie was ever done about these characters, this is who they’d choose to play them! Wizard Magazine in their September 1995 issue chose Stephen Baldwin as the best actor to portray Maul (when the comic character is in his human form that is!). Maul is part of the Wild C.A.T.s!
Stephen was also picked again in their June 1997 issue as the best actor to play Havok, because ‘he is gruff enough to play the energy-wielding brother of Cyclops’. The magazine was casting for the ‘Age of Apocalypse’ X-Men. In this alternate world, the character Havok is a bad guy!
