It was called the "Keystone State" because of it's
central location among the original thirteen states.
Philadelphia was the capital of the colonies, then,
capital of the US from 1790 to 1800. This is where
the Declaration of Independence was signed the
Constitution was written.
Pennsylvania has several firsts!
The World's largest 'Chocolate and Cocoa Factory' is
located in Hershey, PA.
The land where Pennsylvania is, was given to Admiral
Penn in 1681, by King Charles II of England, for a
lage debt the country owed him. William Penn settled
there, with other Quakers, and named the Colony
Pennsylvania, in honor of his father. The name means
"Penn's Woods." He wanted a place where people were
free to practice the religion of their choice.
