Valentine's Day Love

CHAPTER 1
Serena walked down the street. She was on her way to Cherry Hill Temple
and she was very troubled. She had just spoken with Darien, her boyfriend,
and he had broken up with her. Serena tried to wipe the tears from her eyes,
but it wasn't working. Serena couldn't take it anymore, she just started
running to the temple.
Rei saw Serena running down the pathway. She was crying. Rei picked up
the skirt of her kimono and walked towards Serena.
"Serena, what happened!?" said Rei.
"Oh Rei. Darien broke up with me again! What am I gonna do? I
love him so much, Rei. How could he do this to me?! How!?" cried Serena.
Serena put her head on Rei's shoulder and cried.
Rei took Serena in her room and told her she was getting some cookies
and hot chocolate. Rei walked into the kitchen and brought out her
communicator from her kimono. She pushed the green, blue, and orange
buttons. Lita, Ami, and Mina appeared on the screen.
"Hey guys, Serena is in trouble. Darien broke up with her again and she is really upset. Can you
get here quick?" said Rei.
"Sure."
"Okay."
"See ya soon."
The screen blinked black. Rei brought cookies and two cups of hot chocolate into her
room. Serena sipped the hot chocolate, but refused the cookies. Serena must
have been very upset considering she wasn't eating.
Lita, Mina, and Ami walked in.
"Hi Rei. Hi Serena," said Lita.
"Are you okay, Serena?" asked Mina.
Ami just went over and sat on the bed beside Serena.
"Come in the kitchen guys. I'll get you some hot chocolate," said
Rei. Ami, Lita, and Mina followed Rei into the kitchen. Rei told them she
was picking some stuff up from the store and to stay with Serena and try to
make her feel better. She would be back in a few minutes.
CHAPTER 2
Rei changed into her regular clothes (a red striped halter top and a
skirt). She walked down the streets of Tokyo. Instead of turning right
towards the grocery store, she turned left, towards a popular apartment
complex.
Rei pushed the 6 button on the elevator panel. The elevator rose up,
stopped, then made a beep as the doors opened. Rei walked down the hallway
to the last door. She knocked. Rei heard footsteps coming towards the door. Darien opened it slowly.
"Rei? What are you doing here?" asked Darien.
"Can I come in?" replied Rei.
Darien opened the door wider and Rei walked in.
She turned around. "Darien, how could you do this to Serena? You know
how much she cares about you, and I know how much you care about her. How
could you do this? She is at my temple crying her eyes out because you
dumped her. What is wrong with you?" asked Rei.
"Rei, you wouldn't understand. And besides, this is between me and Serena, and it doesn't
involve you," replied Darien.
"What do you mean it's none of my business? I am Serena's best friend, and I am YOUR friend. Just tell me why," said Rei.
"Rei, I don't want to get you into this. Please leave. You're just making
it harder on the both of us," said Darien. He opened the door. Rei gave him
an eye-piercing stare and left.
CHAPTER 3
Rei went back to her temple (after she had grabbed some things from the
store as she said). Rei walked back into her room where Lita, Mina, and Ami
were still comforting Serena.
"Hey guys, would you like to stay for dinner?
We're having chicken and rice," asked Rei. Everyone agreed, so they all went
to the phone to call their parents.
"Hey..umm...Rei, can you like pass the rice?" asked Chad. Rei handed
him the rice bowl from across the table. They all ate quietly. Rei's
grandfather decided to eat in his room. Soon after, Chad finished and went
outside to finish his chores.
"I know this isn't really the right time for this (sorry if this upsets
you, Serena), but Rei, when are you gonna get together with Chad? Its three
weeks till Valentines' Day ya know," said Mina (hey, she was the love sailor
scout).
"MINA! How many times have I told you to stop fixing me up with
Chad?" yelled Rei.
Unfortunately, Chad was in the next room (and the walls
were paper). "Hey, maybe if Rei's friends talk her into it she will like
me..." said Chad to himself. He walked outside to finish his chores.
CHAPTER 4
Serena was in homeroom sitting beside Molly and Ami. Just then a new
boy entered the room. He was tall and had sandy, blondish-brownish hair.
Michael had green eyes that went well with his hair.
"Class, this is Michael. He will be joining our school starting today. Please be nice to
Michael," said Ms. H.
"Ohhh Serena! Whatta hunk!" cried Molly. "Serena?
Serena?" asked Molly.
Serena paid no attention. She was daydreaming about
her and Darien. They were having a picnic in the park, then they were in the
movie theater. Serena sighed. A tear welled up in her eye. Before she started
crying everywhere she ran to the bathroom.
Serena pulled out her communicator. She pushed the green button.
"Lita...Psst..Come to the bathroom on the 2nd floor ASAP!" said Serena.
"Umm...Mrs. Johnson, May I use the rest room?" asked Lita.
"Sure Lita. Don't take too long," replied Mrs. Johnson.
"Hey Serena?" said Lita.
"Hey Lita. I am feeling awful. I want to go
home. Please help me Lita. Let's call Rei and meet her for lunch," said
Serena.
Serena pushed the red button on her communicator.
"Pssttt...Rei,
meet me at the ice cream parlor at lunchtime," said Serena. She hung up
before Rei could reply.
Rei stared at her instructor, Mr. Komo. She was thinking about Serena
and what Darien had said, when suddenly, "Class, this is our new student.
His name is Chad," said Mr. Komo.
"CHAD!!!!!" yelled Rei. She gasped.
"Hey Rei!!! I'll tell you the whole story later," said Chad.
Rei had a free period before lunch so she met Chad on the campus lawn.
"Chad, what are you doing here!?" asked Rei.
"I was a high school dropout. I decided to finish out my high school diploma. I know you are mad, but please don't be, Rei!" replied Chad.
"Okay, Chad. Just try to get good grades," said Rei. She walked off to meet Serena.
Rei walked into the ice cream parlor and saw Serena, Lita, Mina, and Ami
seated at a table drinking milkshakes.
"Hey guys! Waiter, get me a vanilla milkshake!" said Rei. She sat down between Ami and Serena. A few minutes later the waiter brought the milkshake.
"Are you ok, Serena?" asked Rei.
"Yeah, I think I am fine now. There's just this new guy named Michael and he
reminds me sooo much of Darien. And besides he keeps staring at me A LOT.
It's sorta scary," replied Serena.
"There's a new guy at school for me too. Except his name is CHAD!!!!!"
said Rei. Everyone started cracking up laughing.
"It's okay guys. You can stop laughing now. He decided to try to finish high school...WITH ME!" said Rei. Everyone was still laughing.
Serena looked out the window and burst into tears. Darien had walked
by.
"Serena, what happened?" asked Ami.
Serena pointed to the window. Rei
looked up and saw a glimpse of Darien walking by. She got up and walked out
of the ice cream parlor.
"DARIEN SHIELDS! LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO SERENA! LOOK AT HER DARIEN!
CAN'T YOU SEE HOW UPSET SHE IS?! WALK BACK TO THAT ICE CREAM PARLOR WINDOW
AND TELL ME THAT IT MAKES YOU FEEL BAD!!!!" yelled Rei. Darien was shocked.
He walked back towards Rei and looked into the window. He saw Serena,
red-faced and all teared-up, and everyone was hugging her. Rei saw on tear
drop from his deep blue eyes. Then he left.
Rei walked back to the table and sat down. No one even knew she was
gone (that was good, since Serena would get mad if she knew that Rei was
talking to Darien).
"I gotta get back guys. Chad is probably looking for me anyway. See
you after school. Meet at the temple," said Rei. They waved goodbye and Rei
left.
When Rei got back to school she saw Chad sitting on the front lawn
eating lunch all by himself. She felt sorry for him and went over to sit
next to him.
"Hey Chad!" said Rei.
"HI REI!" yelled Chad.
"Come on, Chad. It is time to go back to class," said Rei. Chad packed up the rest of his
lunch and followed Rei into the building.
CHAPTER 6
Rei heard the final bell ring and went straight to her locker. Chad
came walking down the hallway. He had finally got enough guts to ask her.
"Hi..ummm...Rei? Would...you...ummm...go..to a ..like...movie with me
Friday night?" mumbled Chad.
"Sure Chad. How 'bout GHOST?"
Surprised, Chad nodded. GHOST was a new movie about a haunted house.
Rei walked home to her temple and saw that Serena (yes, Serena) was
early!!!!
"Ohh...Rei. Chad was just here and he was soooo excited. I asked
him why and he was saying something about a movie..." said Serena, grinning.
"Oh be quiet Serena. We're just going to see a movie. AND THAT'S IT!" said
Rei. Serena just smiled.
CHAPTER 7
Rei met Chad at the theater. They bought their tickets, popcorn,
drinks, and a little candy. They handed their tickets to the usher and they
walked into the theater.
In a few minutes, the previews started playing. Finally GHOST come on.
About 10 minutes into the movie, Chad slowly reached across behind the
seats. When his arm touched Rei, she jumped. He jerked it back. About 5
minutes later, he tried it again. This time Rei didn't flinch. Chad kept
his arm around Rei's shoulder till the end of the movie.
When the movie was over, they walked back to the temple. When they got
there, Rei stopped before she went to her room and Chad went to his. "I had
a fun time tonight," said Rei. She reached over and gave him a kiss on the
cheek. Chad's face turned bright red. Rei turned and went to her room.
CHAPTER 8
Serena woke up at around 9:00 on Saturday. She wanted to find out the
details about Rei's date. She got out of bed and put on a pink sweater with
a kawaii bunny on the front and a pair of flared jeans. She pulled her hair
up into the usual odangos and brushed her teeth, washed her face, and ate
breakfast. When she was finished she called Rei.
"Hello?" asked the person on the other line.
"Oh HI Rei. It's Serena. Can I come over?" asked
Serena.
"Sure. See ya in a couple of minutes," said Rei. "Bye."
"Bye."
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.* Serena knocked carefully on the front door of the
temple (considering Chad and Rei's grandfather might still be asleep and
anyway, the walls were made out of paper.) Rei came to the door and let
Serena in. She was wearing a red sweater and a pair of bell-bottom jeans.
"Serena, let's take a walk around Tokyo," said Rei. Serena nodded and they
headed out the door.
They started off in the right direction from the temple road. About
halfway through their walk, Serena was talking so much and she wasn't paying
attention and bumped into someone (again). Serena fell to the sidewalk (as
always). Getting up, Serena said, "I'm am so sorry. I'm okay. It's fine."
But when she looked up, there was Darien. Serena picked up her purse and
ran. She just kept running.
"DARIEN! LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!" yelled Rei.
She took off after Serena.
"SERENA! SERENA, STOP! SERENA WAIT UP!" yelled Rei. She found Serena
on a park bench crying. "It's okay, Serena. Stop crying," said Rei. Serena
wiped a tear of her cheek. Rei helped Serena up and they walked back to the
temple.
Rei and Serena sipped hot chocolate. Lita and Ami walked in. Mina had
gone a trip to London for a week.
"Hi guys," said Rei.
"So Rei, what happened last night?" asked Lita.
"Nothing, but a movie," replied Rei.
"Oh really, did you hold hands? kiss?" asked Serena.
"He held his arm around me. And I gave him a kiss on the cheek," said Rei.
Chad grinned. He was in his room and could hear the girls' conversation
about the date. Rei really DID have fun.
"Hey you guys wanna stay over tonight?" asked Rei.
Serena called her mom and she could stay. Ami called her parents and she could stay. Lita
didn't have to call anyone; her parents had died in a plane crash years ago.
After dinner, the girls settled down in Rei's room.
"So when is Chad gonna become your boyfriend?" asked Ami.
"Stop asking me all these questions about Chad!" yelled Rei.
After a few more hours of talking, the girls fell asleep.
Ami, Lita, and Serena went home the next day. Rei sat around the temple
and did her chores.
CHAPTER 9
It was Monday. Rei sat down in her desk beside Chad a few minutes
before the bell rang.
"Hey Chad," said Rei.
"Uhhh...hi Rei," replied Chad.
No one was really in the room, but them. They were all in the hallways
socializing.
"Sooo...ummm...Rei, would you like...to...ummm...like, go to
the ice cream parlor after school?" asked Chad.
"Sure Chad!" said Rei.
After school, Rei walked into the ice cream parlor, and saw Chad seated
in the back. She sat down in the booth across from him. "Yes, we'd like a
chocolate milkshake. Two straws," said Rei to the waiter. Chad turned red.
The waiter brought the milkshake to the table. Two straws were sticking out
of the glass. Rei took a sip. She took another.
"Chad, don't you want some?" asked Rei. Chad bent down and took a drink out of the straw. Rei and Chad were drinking at the same time. Just then,
"REI! CHAD!! HI!" Serena
ran over and sat down beside Rei. "Sooo...sharing a milkshake, are we?" said
Serena. She grinned. Chad blushed. "Hey, whose gottta camera? This is a
Kodak moment!" yelled Serena. Rei elbowed Serena. "OWWWWUCH!" yelled
Serena. Rei smiled.
Rei was walking around sweeping.
"Hi Rei!" yelled Ami. Ami ran up to
the temple. They talked for a while, then Ami went home
Serena ran down the street. She was late AGAIN!
She finally got to the school and opened the front door and ran into
someone.
"Hi Serena," said Michael.
"Oh hi Michael. Come on, we're late!"
said Serena. She picked up her stuff and ran to class past Michael.
"Okay class. Two weeks from now is Valentine's Day. We will be having
a party, but if you want to eat and drink, you guys have to bring it in.
Class dismissed," said the teacher.
At lunch.....
"Oh wow, Serena. I heard that the cutie Michael has a crush on you,"
said Molly.
"Oh who cares Molly. I'm not interested in boys right now,"
said Serena.
Molly was shocked. "YOU'RE not interested in boys!?" said
Molly.
Serena tried not to cry, and not to think about Darien. "It's okay,
Molly. Don't have a heart attack. Besides, I have more important stuff to
do," said Serena.
"Well, okay, if you say so," replied Molly.
The next day.....
Serena opened her locker and found a red rose. She gasped.
IT MUST BE
MICHAEL, thought Serena. There was a card attached.
DEAREST SERENA,
I HOPE YOU LIKE THIS GIFT. BUT, IT HARDLY COMPARES TO YOUR BEAUTY. I CAN'T TELL YOU MY NAME RIGHT NOW. IT IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME.
WOW, thought Serena.
Michael passed her. She turned around to see
Michael smiling.
IT HAS TO BE MICHAEL, thought Serena. Serena took the rose
and headed for Cherry Hill Temple.
She saw Rei walking towards the temple in the distance. She ran up to
her.
"Rei, look at this. I think it was that new kid that I was telling you
about. You know, Michael," said Serena. Something clicked in Rei's mind.
"Ya, I bet it is. Why don't you go on to the temple. I gotta pick up some
things at the store," said Rei. Serena nodded and Rei went the opposite way.
*KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.* A tall guy with black hair and blue eyes opened the
door.
"So, Darien. Know anything about a red rose?" asked Rei.
"What red rose?" said Darien.
"Oh never mind," said Rei, then she left.
Serena was waiting in Rei's room. Unfortunately, she had all ready
pigged out on ALL the cookies and fell asleep on Rei's bed. Rei sighed. She
reached for her blanket and covered Serena with it.
"Yooooo! Rei!!!!" yelled Chad.
Rei ran out of her room. "Shhh, Chad! Serena is asleep!Let's go for a sundae," said Rei. Chad nodded. Rei wrote a note for Serena.
DEAR SERENA,
ME AND CHAD WENT TO THE ICE CREAM PARLOR. YOU CAN COME WHEN YOU WAKE UP
IF YOU WANT.

Rei changed into a white sweater and a black skirt. She laid the note
beside Serena. She met Chad outside and they went to the ice cream parlor.
Rei slowly ate her ice cream sundae while Chad talked.
"I really like you, Rei. Will you go to a fancy dinner party that my parents are running
for my dad's business? I would really like you to be my date, and you can
even bring your friends with you," said Chad.
"Oh, Chad, that would be wonderful!! I'll bring Lita, Ami, Mina, and oh, what about Serena? She
wouldn't be able to get a date," said Rei.
"Hey, how 'bout that dude from the arcade?" said Chad.
"Oh Chad, you're a genius! I'll tell the girls ASAP!" said Rei. She got up and hugged Chad.
"Hey Rei!" said Serena. She pulled up a chair to the table.
"Oh Serena! You won't guess what Chad just said! He wants to take me to this
fancy dinner party his parents are doing and you and the guys can come!" said
Rei.
"Oh, but I can't get a date," said Serena.
"Ask Andrew!" said Rei.
"No, we're just friends. I wouldn't feel right going with him," said Serena.
"But, Serena," said Rei. Serena got up and walked off.
"I gotta go!" yelled Rei, as she walked away from the ice cream parlor.
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
"Darien, Chad just invited me to this huge dinner party, formal and everything, and I can take all my friends. INCLUDING SERENA! But Serena doesn't want to go because she wouldn't be able to get a
date. The party is the night of Valentine's Day, that's a Friday, and YOU, yes YOU, are taking Serena. Got it? No buts, you're taking her, and that's it. No arguments," said Rei. Darien just stared. Rei walked off to go back to her temple.
CHAPTER 10
*BRRRRIIINNNG! BRRRRIIINNNG!*
"Hello?' asked Rei.
"Rei, I need to talk about that dinner thing. It was me with the red rose. I still love
Serena. I would really like to take her to the party. I just need to gradually make her like me again," said Darien.
"Darien, she starts crying when she thinks of you! She still loves you, and she would be SOOOOOO happy if you asked her to the party," said Rei.
"Well, you just can't tell her,
ok? I trust you on this, Rei," said Darien.
"Sure, Darien. I won't tell. Bye," said Rei.
"Bye."
It was a week until Valentine's Day. Rei was thinking about what to
wear. She thought of Darien and Serena.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"Come in," called Rei.
"Hey Rei, look," said Serena she held out a beautiful locket in the
shape of a crescent moon.
"Oh, Serena! It's beautiful!" said Rei.
"I know. Look inside. I put a picture in it," said Serena.
Rei opened the locket. Inside was a picture of Darien. Serena giggled.
A couple of days later, Serena called Rei. She had gotten another note
from her secret admirer.
MY DEAREST SERENA,
I LOVE YOU, SERENA. I HOPE YOU LOVE ME. WILL YOU MEET ME AT 7:00 TONIGHT AT
THE ARCADE? I WANT TO REVEAL MY IDENTITY, AND ASK YOU A QUESTION. PLEASE
DON'T MISS IT, MY PRINCESS.

Serena fixed her skirt. She had on a miniskirt and a sweater. She
shook because she was so nervous. Serena grabbed her purse and ran out the
door.
Serena walked down the street pondering who was waiting for her. Little
did she know, that Rei was following her to see how it worked out. She saw
Serena enter the arcade. Rei ran after her and ducked into the arcade behind
Serena.
"Serena," said Darien. He held out roses for her.
"OH, Darien! It was you! Why didn't I figure it out! OH, Darien!" said Serena. She started
crying and wrapped her arms around Darien. He hugged her back. Darien
looked up and saw Rei standing at the front of the arcade watching it all.
He smiled at her, and she smiled back.
"I see you are wearing the locket," said Darien.
"Oh, yes. It is beautiful, and look inside," said Serena. She handed the open locket to him.
"Wow, and this was BEFORE you knew?" said Darien. Serena nodded. They
hugged again.
"Hey guys! SO that means you can come with me and Chad?'
said Rei. She ran up to Darien and Serena.
"Can we Darien?' asked Serena.
"I would love to come," said Darien.
CHAPTER 11
It was the night of the party. Rei put on a beautiful spaghetti-strap
dress (red, of course) with a long flowing bottom. She met Chad and the
others on Tokyo Main Street where they were waiting for a limo. Serena had
on a pink tube-top dress with the bottom ending at her knees. She had little
pink flowers on her odangos (meatballs). Lita had on a green dress similar to
Rei's. Mina had on a yellow dress with a spaghetti-strap top with the bottom
ending at her shins. Ami's dress was poofy at the shoulders and a light
shade of blue. The guys all had tuxedos. Chad had a red one, Darien had the
traditional black with a rose pinned on it, Ken (Lita's date) had a dark
green one, Antonio (Mina's date) had an yellowish-orange tux, and Greg (Ami's
date) had a light blue one.
The limo arrived, and they all got in. When they got to the dinner
party, it was more like a ball. There was food everywhere, and people were
dancing.
"Andrew!!" said Lita. Andrew walked over with Rita on his arm.
"Ya, Andrew's parents know my dad, soooo...I thought I would invite him,"
said Chad.
"Cool," said Lita. She was about to flirt, but then remembered
Ken was her date.
They sat at a huge banquet table. The waiters brought biscuits and
butter, and shrimp cocktail for appetizers. Serena grabbed a couple of
biscuits and some shrimp. Rei nudged her under the table.
"mmmofmoufmmof!" said Serena.
"Serena, don't eat so much, be polite," whispered Rei.
Mina overheard and giggled. Soon after, the waiters brought out salads for
everyone. Serena inhaled that too.
Finally, the waiters brought out the main course, steak. Rei and the
other girls ate their steak in little morsels. Serena shoveled it in.
"Would you like the dessert, brownie ala mode, maim?' asked a waiter.
"MMmuhmm!" nodded Serena. The waiter brought a warm brownie covered in
vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce. Serena gobbled that up too. She
patiently waited for the others to finish their steak and their dessert.
"Rei, would you like to dance?" asked Chad
"Sure," said Rei.
He escorted her to the dance floor.
"Well, Serena?" asked Darien.
"Heheheee,"said Serena. They followed after Rei and Chad. The others followed suit.
They danced for a while, then it was time for the party to end. They all got
back into the limo. Rei and Chad got off at the temple. The limo took the
others to their houses.
"Well, Chad. I had a lot of fun tonight," said Rei.
"Uhh...yeah, me too," said Chad. Rei leaned toward Chad. Then, in the moonlight, Rei and
Chad had their first kiss.
