HELLO & WELCOME TO MY LITTLE WORLD OF DOLLS AND STUFF!!!To introduce my self, my name is Veleta Stafney, but most of my friends call me “Sammy”. Please fill free to be my friend!!! I now live in Woodburn, Oregon with my hubby, Don. Together we have 4 kids, which are out on their own, 2 dogs and one totally awesome granddaughter, Kaylie, who is 4 ½. I have been crafting for nearly 40 years. My first project was crocheting granny squares with my mom. I remember my mom and my Aunt LaVon getting together for a day of crafting!!! They spent a lot of afternoons making flowers out of feathers and the dolls that were Dip and Drape over a bottle and a large Styrofoam ball for the head. The hair was done in large ringlets made using long fur. My Dear Aunt LaVon gave me one of my mom’s dolls that she had did about 30 years ago. This is one of my greatest treasures that I have!!! My Aunt LaVon passed away 6 months after she gave it to me and my mom has been gone for nearly 24 years. About 10 years ago I began crafting full time. I sold my dolls in bazaars and shops. After nearly 8 years of doing this, I finally burned out. But the need to craft was so imbedded into my soul, that I had to find some other outlet for me. That is when I tried my hand at designing for craft magazines and craft books. My first published work was in the March, 97 issue of CRAFTS MAG. When I first saw the mag. at my local store, you would have thought that I had gone crazy!!! I wanted to jump out and stop every customer in the store and make him or her look at my two granny bags!!! I was jumping up and down and hugging the mag. People were looking at me like I was crazy but I didn’t care! When my second design was published, I was able to keep myself a little more in control. Everyone kisses a mag in Wal-Mart!!! In my spare time, I also run a craft shop, outside of my home, where I specialize in dolls and doll supplies. Any success that I may have I owe to my Heavenly Father for his love, his grace, and giving me my creativity and my imagination! Everything I see, I see in a different way!
I also would like to thank Shirley!!!! If it was not for her I would not have this web site!! She has been taking her time and her talents to set this up for me! In fact it was Shirley who said, “You must have a web site” Thank you Shirley!!!!
Please take the time to sign my guest book and make a comment or two! I hope you enjoy your self and please come back again!
All of these designs have been published. If you are interested in finding them, check out your local library for copies of the magazine.
These 2 plastic grocery bag holders were the first designs that were published.
