Briefly put, TSS is approaching its sixth year in existence. It reflects not only sociology in general, but also my own particular bent on it. I've included many items...some of my own creation...some from others. It has many "rooms" in it...with many of the rooms containing links to elsewhere in TSS, as well as offsite. I believe that most anyone can find something of interest to them in TSS. I have visitors from all around the world...the general public, teachers, and students.
What I want you to do is take a look at what's there. The best place to begin is, of course, the TSS Directory...which lists the "rooms" in TSS. You can easily branch out from the Directory to all sorts of "nooks and crannies." The only room you CAN'T utilize is "Who Am I?"...which contains personal and professional information about me (my Vita/Resume).
I want you to select FIVE (5) sites in TSS...ones you find most interesting and/or informative. These can include various articles and even my own "From My Perspective" column I write periodically. However, you may NOT use a "room" itself for one of your selections. ALSO, you CANNOT utilize for this report any link in our Online Reader.
For EACH selection:
Describe what the site is about
Explain what it's about
What, if anything, did you learn from it...or sociology in general?
In general, tell me about the site, article, table, chart, etc. Anlayze what you find...utilizing some of the course content we will have covered by then.
Caveat/Disclaimer
The Internet is an ever-changing reality...sites come and go...and often change urls (addresses). You may very well run across some of these ("page unavailable"...or 404 error). It's a sometimes very difficult thing to keep "up" on...so don't get discouraged, just try something else. If you really want to be nice, let me know of the links that don't work...I'd really appreciate it.
Lastly, this is the first time I've ever assigned this particular Internet Assignment, although I've wanted to for some time. So, I'm not exactly sure what I'll get from you. You won't hurt my feelings if you don't particularly like TSS...but, then again, that's not the point of the assignment, is it? There is enough variety in TSS that you won't have much trouble finding things you do like...have fun with it...I am, writing these very instructions.
