Secrets Revealed
Chapter 14: Just Between Us

Dallas Texas
The presidential suite

Katherine Bell entered the suite angrily. She had just come from a meeting with her informant in El Paso who had had the audacity to try to blackmail her for more money. He had also had the pleasure of informing her that Luke Spencer and Jason Morgan were hot on her trail. Not that he used their names, Katherine had been quick to recognize his description of the two men who had invaded his home. She had known from the moment she shot at Stephanie Cassadine at the zoo that it had been a stupid thing to do. Of course if she had eliminated the child it might have been worth it to risk exposure. But Maxie Jones had pushed the child out of the way and had been hit instead.

A part of Katherine had been devastated by what she had done. She had shot the daughter of a man who she had once considered among her closest friends. Maybe her only friend. But the majority of Katherine, the part that had spent the last fifteen years working for Helena Cassadine was appalled not by the act but by the failure of the act to achieve its goal- the elimination of Stephanie Cassadine and the taking of the boy.
Katherine was not accustomed to failure.

Katherine moved over to the desk and turned on the vid-phone. She punched in the special code and in a moment, the face of Helena Cassadine filled the screen.

''I've taken care of the loose threads here. There is nothing
left in Texas to connect either of us with the murder of the Stewarts
or the shooting of Maxie Jones.''

''You forget the dozen or so eyewitnesses that saw you at
the zoo.''

''Not a problem. The security cameras at the First National
Bank in Dallas now have me on tape making a withdrawal at the same time as the shooting in El Paso. Any good lawyer can chalk up the ID to stress and trauma. I heard the place was a bloody massacre. No one can positively ID someone under those circumstances. Especially if that person has an ironclad alibi. Our lawyers can make mincemeat out of the DA's case.''

''Good.'' Helena sounded satisfied. ''I would have hated to have lost such a valuable member of my organization to jail. The boy is back in Port Charles.''

''Do you want me to organize another kidnapping? ''

''Not at the moment. I am enjoying the irony of the situation.
My informants tell me that my grandson is intent on gaining custody.
The pleasure of watching another Spencer-Cassadine war erupt
between Nikolas and Lucky Spencer is not one that I want to deny myself. And the idea that Emily
Quartermaine will lose her child is a sweet revenge for all that she has denied me in the past.''

''Nikolas might not win custody.''

''Oh, he will. I will see to that. And then I will take Jonathan
from Nikolas directly and thus destroy Nikolas with his own sense
of guilt that he failed to keep his child safe. Or children.''

Katherine smiled. Any plan that caused pain to Nikolas was
fine with her.

''And our arrangements.''

''They stand. I am pleased with you Katherine. And as much
as I hate to admit I am getting old. I need your help in running my empire.''

''The pleasure is mine. What do you want me to do now?''

''Return to New York. I need you to check on our various
business interests on the Eastern Seaboard. I am especially concerned
with the delicate nature of the operations out of Port Charles. Your
supervision would make me feel better. ''

''Understood.'' Katherine nodded before turning off the
phone.

Katherine stood up, looked down, and her anger returned.

It wasn't an anger directed at Luke or Jason or Helena or
even at herself.

It was aimed entirely at her informant. Sponberg. The man's
who's blood was spattered across her black suit. She even thought she
saw some gray matter mixed in.

She had been standing to close to the man when she shot
and killed him.

''My favorite Armani,'' Katherine shrugged as she took the
suit off and headed to the shower. ''Next time I kill somebody I do it
wearing Donna Karan.''

A private jet headed to New York

Emily Spencer settled into a comfortable position against
the solid warmth of her husband and let out a gentle sigh.

“Jonathan is going to be fine. He has the Quartermaine
mansion to explore, Reginald to terrorize, and Cook to reign him
in. Not to mention Edward, Alan, and Monica to spoil him. We’re
only going to be in New York a few days at the most. He’d be
bored waiting for the specialists and the tests.”

“I know. I just hate leaving him alone in Port Charles with
people he’s really only known a week or so. And with Nikolas
threatening to sue for custody.....”

“Emily,” Lucky gently stroked her hair. “Don’t. We can
handle Nikolas.”

“Can we? I don’t know. When I try to look at it rationally
I can’t help but think that a judge is going to agree with Nikolas
and give him custody. We have denied him his so for almost
thirteen years. Or I have. We haven’t exactly provided Jonathan
with a stable home environment. And Nikolas can give him a lot
of the things we can’t give him.”

“Except the love of a mother and a father and a home.
Nikolas will see that once he calms down and if he doesn’t a
judge will. And you know we aren’t exactly poor ourselves. Not
only do we still have all of the money Jason gave you, but we’ve
pretty much lived off my investments leaving a fairly large amount
of savings intact. Plus now that Jax has offered me my old job
back, we might even be able to afford a membership in the
country club.”

“Port Charles doesn’t have a country club.”

“Then we’ll build one,” Lucky smiled. “I don’t want you
to worry about money now anymore than you did when we were
underground. In fact, I really don’t want you to worry about
anything. We go to New York, enjoy a romantic dinner..”

“With Jax and V”

“With Jax and V,” Lucky nodded. “Jax and I talk a little
bit of business and then you and I are free for the evening.”

Emily looks up. “Does that mean you and I are finally
going to have our first date?”

Lucky grinned. “First date. I like the sound of that. I
guess it will be our first date.”

“I hope you aren’t planning to try anything tonight...”
Emily pulled Lucky’s arms closer around her and ran her hands
up and down them. “I wouldn’t want you to think that I’m that
kind of girl.”

Lucky kissed the back of her neck and Emily shuddered.
“That’s too bad.” He whispered the words in a soft voice. “What
if I tried something now? We have a 40 minutes before we land
and I’ve been assured that his crew is very well trained and
discrete.”

“You asked?” Emily says incredulously laughing softly.

“I’m a man with a beautiful wife and a child who’s staying
with their grandparents. Of course I’m going to ask.”

“How am I suppose to face Jax at dinner tonight?” Emily
‘s groan took on another tone when Lucky’s hands started to
explore her body.

Lucky didn’t bother to tell her that it was V and not Jax
he had asked. There were some things Emily was better off not
knowing.

Port Charles
The Quartermaine Mansion

Jonathan Quartermaine Spencer was being pursued and
there was only one way out, one choice he could make under the
circumstances. He didn’t like it, but the alternative was worse.
Jonathan knocked urgently on his cousin’s door.

Michael opened it. “Oh God, you’ve got that look on your
face.”

“What look?” Jonathan asked, curious despite himself.

“That- some adult male Quartermaine is trying to talk to
me about ELQ business look. Let’s see- my dad is still out of
town, Reginald is pretty good at keeping Edward reigned in these
days, so my guess is Ned ambushed you.”

“How did you know?”

“Experience.” Michael grinned. “Come in.”

Jonathan entered. Michael’s room was dotted with posters
of different places around the world and a set of encyclopedias
covered one wall. “

“Pretty old fashioned- I know. My uncle, I guess our
uncle, Jason bought them for me a few years ago. I didn’t have
the heart to tell him that I can get the same information on a
computer disk that takes up far less room. But actually, its kind of
fun to read through them some days. The posters came from
Jason too, except for the sports posters which are all mine. The
rest of the stuff came from either my dad or grandfather. You’ll
learn fast that the Quartermaines are sometimes not comfortable
showing their affection physically so they buy you presents. Or
build go-cart races when you casually mention it would be fun to
have one.”

“You’re kidding.”

“No, it drives Ruby crazy. Try it. Mention tonight how
much you’d like a hockey rink and I swear to you Edward will
have the architect out here tomorrow and the thing built in a
month.”

Jonathan sat down. “This is going to take some getting
used to.”

“Don’t sweat it. Your mom knows how to handle the
family. She’ll keep them in line. And wait till she has her baby.
This family goes crazy when a baby is in the family. Even my
great aunt Tracy’s stepdaughter’s little girl a few years ago
created this big hoopla. And Ned’s daughter Brooke is pretty
much a Quartermaine princess although she’s at law school now.
Just don’t expect the family to back off their efforts to get you to
show an interest in ELQ. They can’t afford to let you slip through
their fingers.”

“What do you mean?”

“His name is Dylan Hornesby. You’ll probably meet him
sooner or later. Later if
you’re lucky. Pardon the pun. He’s Tracy’s youngest son- Ned’s
half brother. He’s an MBA candidate at Harvard I think. But a
total and complete slime ball. No ethics. No sense of humor. And
the worst fashion sense of anyone I know. I think the thought that
Dylan will someday be CEO of ELQ was what gave Edward his
stroke last year. It definitely freaks my dad out. That’s why I get
the ELQ is your heritage speech every time I turn around. That’s
pretty much when I escape to Ruby’s. The Spencer household is
so much more fun. Once in a while I’ll head to Jason’s for a few
days, although I usually spend a month or so every summer
traveling with Jase somewhere.”

Jonathan has a hard time reconciling the coldly
professional killer who saved him in Mexico and then again in El
Paso with the benevolent uncle image that Michael is painting.

He is about to ask more, when there is a knock on the
door. Before either of them can answer it, Ruby Spencer answers
the door. There is an awkward silence between Ruby and
Jonathan.

“I better get going,” Jonathan says. “I’ll see you later
Michael. Thanks for the advice.”

“Wait.” Ruby stops him.

Jonathan turns. “For what? More of what I got at my
parent’s housewarming party last night. No thanks.”

“You can’t talk to me like that. I’m your aunt.”

“Please don’t even go there. You’re my father’s sister so I
have to be polite. My mother would kill me otherwise. But I
don’t have to be friendly.”

“Which father are you talking about, Nikolas or Lucky?”
Ruby shoots out before she can stop herself.

Jonathan pales and even Michael stares at Ruby horrified.

Jonathan turns around slowly. “I have only one father.
Lucky. He’s the only father I will ever have or ever need.”

Ruby had the grace to look ashamed. “I’m sorry. That
was a terrible thing to say.”

“Don’t mind her,” Michael said to Jonathan. “Ruby is
going through this identity crisis. You know Nikolas is referred to
as The Cassadine. Ruby has always thought of herself as The
Spencer. Capitol letters and all. When’s she not being such a brat
she’s actually a lot of fun. For a girl.” Michael added as Ruby
stuck her tongue out at her cousin. “Besides, you two have to get
along. She’s my cousin. You’re my cousin. I don’t intend to have
to choose between the two of you.”

Jonathan looked at Ruby. Ruby looked at Jonathan.
Neither of them trusted the other. But both of them trusted
Michael.

Ruby held out her hand. “Peace?”

“Peace.” Jonathan replied adding a mental “for now.”

“Look,” Ruby begins after another moment of awkward
silence. “Everyone keeps ranting and raving about how good you
are with computers.”

“Everyone?”

“All right- Stephanie. Still I could really use your help
with this small computer problem I have.”

Jonathan shook his head. “I promised my dad I would
only hack in to the systems of large corporations, government
agencies, or media outlets only in case of extreme emergency. “

Michael whistled. “You can do all of that?”

“Yeah, but my dad got freaked out when I tapped into the
FBI’s mainframe and put a picture of my dog on the ten most
wanted list. After that he swore to always use the force for
good---I also think that was the weekend the Star Wars Episode
Three came out.”

Ruby and Michael exchanged glances. “Would you
consider finding and catching Helena Cassadine a good enough
reason?”

“That bitch? After what she did to my mom, I’d throw the
switch on the electric chair myself.”

Ruby reaches into her backpack and pulls out the small
old-fashioned hard disk.

“Michael and I borrowed this from a warehouse owned by
Katherine Bell here in town.”

“The woman who kidnapped me? Who was responsible
for what happened in El Paso?”

“The same. We think it might have information that will
lead us to Helena but its encrypted and we can’t break the code.”

Jonathan holds the disk for a moment. “Okay, but you
have to do me a favor.”

“What?”

“I want to know everything you know about Nikolas
Cassadine. And then I want you to get into Wyndemere for me?”

“Nikolas? Wyndemere? Why? What?”

“My father always taught me to know my enemies. Last
night, Nikolas Cassadine threatened my family which makes him
my enemy. I need to know everything I can about him. I need to
find something that I can use against him to make him leave me
alone.”

Ruby shook her head. “Nikolas is my brother. I can’t just
betray him.”

“I’m not asking you to betray him. Just to give me some
information on him. If he’s so clean, than there’s nothing you can
tell me and nothing you can find that will be betraying him.”

“What do you think you will find?”

“I don’t know. But Nikolas is a Cassadine. There has to
be some fire under all that smoke. I don’t want to send the guy
to jail or hurt him or do anything like that. He is Stephanie’s
father and for some reason she loves him. I just want him to leave
my mother and father alone, especially with my mom sick.”

Ruby hesitated. Lucky is her brother too. She knows how
much Lucky loves his wife and his son. She looks at Jonathan
and tries to imagine what it would be like to have someone you
didn’t know come along and try to be your father and take you
away from the only family you every knew. She would hate it if
anyone tried to take her away from Luke and Laura. And finally,
the thought crosses her mind- what would her grandfather do?

She nods. “You help us break this code and track down
Helena and I’ll spy on Nikolas for you.”

“Deal.” Jonathan says.

“Deal.” Ruby echoes as the both shake hands.

Watching them, Michael shakes his head and wonders if
its not to late to take his dad up on his offer of boarding school in
Europe.

40 miles outside of El Paso

Luke and Jason had been trailing that weasel Sponberg for
almost 24 hours straight and he had led them to this warehouse in
a nondescript town in the middle of
nowhere. He had gone in about two hours ago and had yet to
come out.

“You think he snuck out?” Jason said impatiently. He
wanted so badly for this guy to lead him to Katherine Bell.

“How?” Luke asked reasonably.

“He could have lost the tracker?”

“That idiot isn’t smart enough to realize we planted one.”

“It still doesn’t feel right?”

“Now that I agree with.” Luke nodded. “I say we go in.”

Jason agreed and the two men left the rented car
stealthily, heavily armed, and approached the warehouse
carefully.

When they could hear no sound from within, the two men
entered cautiously.

And found Thomas Sponberg’s dead body with half his
head blown off lying cold on the floor. The warehouse itself was
deserted and a quick but thorough search revealed no clues that
could lead them to either Katherine Bell or Helena Cassadine.

Jason swore in disgust. “What do we do now?”

“We go home to Port Charles,” Luke replied with a
patience born of years of dealing with Helena. “You spend some
time getting to know your sister and your nephew, I renew my
acquaintance with my family. And we wait for Helena to make
her next move.”

“I’m not risking Emily or Jonathan.” Or Maxie Jason adds
silently.

“You won’t,” Luke said easily. “But you are no good to
them half a continent away tracking down clues that aren’t going
to lead you anywhere. Every member of your organization has an
ear out for information on Helena. So does the WSB. She’s
bound to slip at some point.”

“She didn’t this time.”

“The old girl’s evil and slime, but she ain’t invincible.
We’ll get her. In the meantime we have people waiting in Port
Charles who care about us.” Luke eyed Jason. “And you have
someone waiting for you in El Paso that you care about.”

“Maxie is Robin’s niece.” Jason says tonelessly.

“Which explains your keeping a watch by her bed when
she was in the coma or the sparks that have been heavy enough
between the two of you to ignite a wildfire since we arrived in El
Paso.”

“Maxie is...”

“I know. Don’t even bother. If there’s one thing I can’t
stand is when a middle aged man begins to get delusional.” Luke
smiled. “Too bad, though I like the little spitfire. She would
definitely be a challenge. Maybe I can introduce her to Sly. He
broke up with his fiancée a few months ago and being an
international reporter he would understand about her career
and....”

“Luke.” Jason’s tone was curt.

“Yeah?”

“Shut up.”

Luke grinned. “Yep. Just like I said. Head over heels.
Made for each other. Of course the two of you are going to have
to have a long talk about your careers. I think the children might
get a little confused when Mommy arrests Daddy.”

Listening to Luke ramble, Jason had a sickening feeling
that it was going to be a long drive back to El Paso.

The hospital in El Paso

Maxie took the foam ball, held it in her hands, and
squeezed. She repeated the motion fifteen more times.

“You shouldn’t try to overdo,” Felicia cautioned her
daughter.

Maxie looked up. “Hi Mom.” She bent down to
concentrate on the ball. “I’m not. I just want to get stronger so I
can get out of this place before I go stir crazy.”

“You will,” The doctor says that as long as you continue
to receive medical care in Port Charles and take it easy, we
should be able to fly you home in three or four days. A week at
the most.”

“I can’t wait.” Maxie smiled. “This cooking is worse than
Lukes’ Place.”

“Your father will be glad to here that.”

“Where is he?”

“I left him in charge of packing your condo. We’re going
to put most of the stuff in storage but we’ll ship that list of
personal belongings and your clothes to Port Charles. Not that
you have much in the way of clothes that aren’t dark suits.”

“Corpses don’t mind what I wear,” Maxie shrugged. “And
the other cops respect me more when I dress like a detective and
not a fashion model.”

“Trust me- your suits are as drab as the ones Garcia and
Taggert wear. All business, no sense of style.” Felicia looked at
her daughter. “Now Jason Morgan he puts on a suit and he is
creating a style.”

“I suppose,” Maxie looks down. “If you like the godfather
look.”

“The question is not whether I do, it’s whether you do.”

A startled Maxie meets her mother’s eyes and tries to
cover. “What would Jason’s fashion style have to do with me? I
barely know him.

“Then how is that Jason Morgan is in love with you?”

“You’re kidding right? Jason Morgan in love with me?
Jason doesn’t even know the meaning of the word love. He’s the
most stubborn, infuriating, arrogant, and cold hearted man I
know.” Maxie can’t keep the tirade from slipping out.

“But you love him?”

Maxie catches her breath and looks at her mother,
heartbreak written on her face. She nods. “And I love him. I don’t
want too. I’ve tried for years not too. But I can’t seem to stop
myself.”

Felicia sits next to her daughter.

“How did this happen? I didn’t even know that the two of
you knew each other that well?”

In a halting and hesitant voice, Maxie tells Felicia about
her Christmas with Jason three years ago.

Felicia is left speechless. “All these years you’ve been
hurting and you didn’t tell me.”

Maxie shrugged self-confidently. “I didn’t want you to be
ashamed of me. I threw myself at Jason. I should have told him
who I was. But I wanted to be with him so much that I did
something really really stupid.”

“Oh honey,” Felicia whispered. “I could never be ashamed
of you. Someday I’ll have to tell you all of the stupid stunts I
pulled to get your father, Frisco, to notice me. I’m just sorry that
you got hurt and I wasn’t there to make it better.” Felicia paused.
“Jason seemed very concerned with you when you were in your
coma.”

“I know.” Maxie nodded. “I saw him. We talked. Jason
could love me. Maybe he already does. But it doesn’t matter
because he won’t let himself love me. And I’m not going to beg
or plead with him.”

“Do you want him to love you?”

“That’s just it....I don’t know. I love Jason. But
sometimes I really don’t like him.” Maxie confessed. “I don’t
know what to do.”

“Start by coming home and working on feeling better.
Little everything else take care of itself later,” Felicia told her
daughter.

Maxie nodded, knowing that her mother was right.

Wyndemere

Nikolas Cassadine leaned back in his chair and eyed the
vid phone.

“Everything is ready?”

“The papers will be filed as soon as court opens in the
morning. The judge is prepared to sign an order giving you
temporary custody of your son until the custody hearing which
will take place in a month or so. All we are waiting on is your
order and your son will be under your roof in 24 hours.”

Nikolas nodded. His son. The words sound good. Is he
doing the right thing? He doesn’t know. He is beginning to reach
the conclusion that he is doing the only thing he can do. He has a
son. He will not ignore that fact or play at being an uncle to his
own son. History will not repeat itself again. Neither can he see
himself as a part time father. He has already lost almost 13 years
of his son’s life. How is he suppose to settle for bits and pieces
and let Lucky get the rest?

The thought crosses his mind that maybe Emily is right.
Maybe some part of him still resents Lucky for having their
mother to himself all those years. He pushes the thought out of
his head.

“I don’t want to keep Jonathan from his mother. He loves
her.” He ignores the fact that his son loves Lucky too. Lucky is
not Jonathan’s true father.

“We’ll give her ample visitation. If what you say is the
truth and they plan on staying Port Charles visitation should be
easy to arrange. Every other weekend or so.”

Nikolas shrugged. That sound’s fair. He ignores Emily’s
voice in his head- “His family is all Jonathan has, take that from
him and he will hate you.” The boy will adjust. God knows he
had adjusted. Several times. In a few years Jonathan will see
Nikolas as his father, not Lucky. Lucky will be relegated to the
role of stepfather. Or uncle. The same role they wanted Nikolas
to assume.

“My mother says they are in New York. Emily is
apparently getting some medical tests done. No one will tell me
what they are about, but I think this will be easier on Jonathan if
we wait. I do not want my son thinking that we took advantage
of the situation. When Emily and Lucky return, we will file the
papers and seek full custody of Jonathan.” Nikolas terminates the
call.

“Father!” Stephanie’s shocked voice sounds from the
doorway. “How can you do that to Jonathan or Uncle Lucky?”

Nikolas looks at his daughter. “I did not hear you return
from you grandmothers.”

“The launch just brought me. What are you planning to do
to my brother?”

“You know that Jonathan is your brother.”

Stephanie nods. “I heard Jonathan and Lucky talking on
the plane. Last night at the party Jonathan told me everything.”

“Stephanie.....I....”

Stephanie cuts him off politely. “It’s okay father, Jonathan
explained it all to me. He told me that his mother didn’t know she
was pregnant until after you met my mother. And that when his
mother realized how much you loved my mother, she realized that
she had to protect your happiness. So she went off by herself to
have her child so that you and mother could be happy and have
me. Kind of like the Little Mermaid went back to the ocean to
become sea foam rather than hurt the Prince she loved so much.
Then Jonathan’s mother met Lucky and they fell in love so
everything was okay. At least it would have been if it wasn’t for
great grandmother. Jonathan doesn’t like her and neither do I.”

“That makes three of us,” Nikolas says gently,
overwhelmed by his son’s generosity. He has turned a sordid tale
of a drunken one night stand into a fairy tale for Stephanie to
believe in.

“Are you really going to make Jonathan come live with
us? I don’t think he would like it here. His new house is really
neat. And Alan was talking about helping Jonathan pick out a
new dog. Great grandmother killed Diablo. Jonathan told me all
about him last night.”

Nikolas sighed. How does he explain this to his child
when he barely understands it himself.?

“Stephanie do you remember when you were seven and
your mother and I sent you to camp for two weeks. Remember
how much you said you were going to hate it and then when you
got there you ended up loving it. I think Jonathan coming to stay
with us will be a lot like that, he thinks he will hate it but once he
is here with us and we are a family I think he will learn to love us.
He will be happy here because his family is here.”

“You mean Uncle Lucky and Aunt Emily are going to
move in here too?”

Nikolas sighs, gives up for the day, and sends his daughter
upstairs to unpack.

New York
Waldorf-Astoria Ballroom

Business concluded, Lucky returns to the table where he
has left Emily catching up with V and hearing about V’s life with
Jax in New York City.
“Can I have this dance Mrs Spencer?” He bows politely.
Emily sighs as she looks at her husband in black tux that
contrasts with his blond hair and sets off his blue eyes. How did
she get so lucky? she wonders, not for the first time, as she gives
him her hand.

Everytime our eyes met
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams

Lucky inhales the wonder of her scent as they glide across
the dance floor, smoothly and fluidly with a rhythm that defies
definition. She is so beautiful in her red dress, cut high in the back
to cover her scars with a plunging neckline and a cut that gently
swirls around her. Her hair is piled high into a mass of curls that
his fingers are itching to pull down. He is, as he has been since he
saw her at Lila’s funeral, overwhelmed by his feelings for her. She
is more than his life, she is his blood, his breath, his soul. He
cannot imagine his world without her. And the fear of losing her
makes him want to break down.
Please god let the specialist help.

Everytime our eyes met
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams

Emily looks into the blazing warmth of Lucky’s eyes and
feels herself blushing under the intense desire she finds there.
“I love you,” she whispers.
“I love you too,” he answers as he draws her so close that
she is sure everybody on the dance floor is staring at them. “I
want to make love to you.”
“Here?”
He smiled. “If you want. But our suite might be more
private.”
“We should say goodbye to Jax and V.”
“They left ten minutes ago.”
“Then let’s go.”
Once in the elevator, he draws her close and begins to kiss
her deep, hard, and urgent kisses that make her knees buckle.
They make love three times before they make it to the
king size bed.

I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you, it just keeps getting better
I wanna spent the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me, baby you surround me
You touch everyplace in my heart
Oh, it feels the first time everytime
I wanna spend the whole night in your eyes

Lucky wakes up sometime after three in the morning from a
dream where he was at Liz’s funeral, but in the middle of the
dream it turned out to be Emily he was burying. Emily and their
child. And when he reached for Jonathan, Nikolas took him away.

Lucky is too shaken by the dream to sleep and he doesn’t
want to wake Emily up, so he quietly slips out of bed. He takes a
moment to watch his wife sleeping. To set his own heart to the
gentle beating of hers.

He shuts the bedroom door and heads into the living room
section of the suite. There is a balcony that overlooks the city
below and around him. It is, he imagines as he stands silently, on
the balcony, as quiet as the city gets.

He does not know how he can make it without her. He is
not sure that he will find the will to try. But how can he ask her to
sacrifice their child. How do you choose the between the woman
you love and the life you created? How do you even begin to
make that decision.

I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you, it just keeps getting better
I wanna spent the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me, baby you surround me
You touch everyplace in my heart
Oh, it feels the first time everytime
I wanna spend the whole night in your eyes

Lucky is unaware that there are tears running down his
cheeks until he feels a warmth pressed against his side. Blindly, he
turns to Emily, gathers her close, and they comfort each other
until the coming of the dawn.
