What a title, EH? Couldn't think of an adequate one since this weekly update is relatively generalized and short.
Obviously the y2k news this week has been the Navy's "Master's Utilities List" that was "leaked" by Jim Lord. (http://www.jimlord.to) There is a lot to absorb so I won't give any specific comments on it just yet, but the reaction was certainly stunning and even amusing. ############### The Dow blew into new highs (some where around 11,300 right now), making a mockery of me. Just a couple weeks ago I declared the Great Millennial Bear Market as underway. It figures. No, this doesn't weaken the over-all argument, so stop heckling! This is simply a "flight to quality" as investors flee to a small handful of blue chip stocks that send the index higher than is represenative of the whole average. Besides, I've always said the cut-off limit SHOULD be dow 11,600 and it is definitely possible to hit 12,000 before y2k does its damage.

I may be moving into the (famous) resort town of Sun Valley Idaho as a y2k-safe place. ( I already moved last September from Portland, OR to Boise, ID as a relatively safe haven ) Do you live there? Are you an employer in Hailey, Ketchum, Moscow, Lewiston--or something similar? Do you want to live there? There are very plentiful jobs with decent wages at the present.(well, ok, not great but at least better than the rest of Idaho) Many employers may have on-site living accomodations (such as a motel or resort). I haven't landed the "perfect" y2k job just yet, but soon will. (In this case "perfect" means it will have a good chance of surviving a recession/depression and in a secluded location) I'm open to any position in the lower Snake river valley as well.) This is the one of the main reasons I no longer have time to write this web site as much anymore: personal preparations and future employment concerns. When/if I make the move, which could be at any time, and most likely before December, THIS WEB SITE WILL NO LONGER BE UPDATED. It will sit in antiquity as a shrine for future historians to gape upon. (If the power grid stays up) If by some wild chance of luck y2k "only" brings a standard recession then I'll come back to lick my wounds in public. But think about this...If I had any doubts about my assessment on the outcome on y2k, why would I be going through such extensive personal plans? I hope I'm wrong, but no one has yet to show how ON A MACRO-LEVEL why this site's views are out of line. I almost never receive any negative criticisms or hate e-mail from hostile individuals as was the case in 1998. This scares me; I'm either now merely preaching to the choir, or I'm essentially right (ON A MACRO-LEVEL) .
