THE HANSCOM FAMILY:
1. THOMAS HANSCOM Born ca.1576-1612 in England. Married ? CLAYTON on May 16,1664 in Kittery, Maine, USA. She was born ca.1582-1612 and died ca.1666-1703. They had several children. Miss Clayton may have been 2nd wife.
2. THOMAS HANSCOM II Born 1623 in Sutton, Bedfordshire Co, England. Had 2 sisters Mary and Elizabeth Hanscom. Thomas married ANNE (DOWNING?) in Kittery, Maine, USA. They had 8 children: Thomas, Olive, Samuel, Moses, Job, John, Alice and Aaron...THOMAS HANSCOM died ca.1688-1717 in Kittery, Maine. His wife, ANNE died 1689-1722.
3.JOB HANSCOM Born 1679 in Kittery, Maine to Thomas and Anne HANSCOM. He worked as a weaver and lived in Kittery until the early 1750's when he moved to Saco, Maine. He married MARY GOWELL in 1705. She was the daughter of Richard GOWELL. They had 8 children: AAron, Benaiah, Mary, Elizabeth, Uriah, Zimri, Anne and Martha. Job died September 3,1779 at age 100.
4.URIAH HANSCOM Born 1717 in Kittery, Maine to Job and Mary Hanscom. He served at Ft.Louisbourg, Nova Scotia in 1745 then returned to Kittery where he was a ship carpenter. He married MARY HEARL on Aug 2,1744 in Kittery. She was daughter of John and Mary (Beard) HEARL. They had 9 children: Zimri, Uriah, Jr., James, Elizabeth, Peletiah, Ebenezer, Gideon, Aaron and John. Uriah died in Kittery in early 1778.
5.AARON HANSCOM Born 1760 in Kittery, Maine to Uriah and Mary HANSCOM. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, 1778-1780. He moved to New Hampshire where he married LYDIA WILLEY in 1785. They settled in Strafford, New Hampshire where he was a farmer. They had 10 children: Ruth, John, Ebenezer, Micajah, son (died young), Jeremiah, Uriah, Lydia, William and Susan T. Aaron died November 1826 at age 66. Lydia died 1849.
6.URIAH HANSCOM Born in 1797 in Strafford, New Hampshire to Aaron and Lydia HANSCOM. He moved to Holderness, NH as a young man and was a farmer there for the remainder of his life. He married his 1st cousin, MEHITABLE TWOMBLEY (1800-1892) in 1826. She was daughter of Joshua and Hannah (Willey) Twombley. Uriah and Mehitable had 6 children: Alfred U., Ruhamah Dearborn, Hiram, Warren, Hannah Abbie and her twin sister Lydia Anne. Uriah died in 1856 in Holderness, NH.
7.ALFRED HANSCOM Born in 1828 in Holderness, NH to Uriah and Mehitable HANSCOM. As a young man, he left New England and went out west. He lived first in Kane County, Illinois, then moved to Onawa, Iowa. He married MARY P.OLIVER in 1856 and they had 10 children: Horace Alfred, ? Alfred died in 1889 in Sioux City, Iowa.
8.HORACE ALFRED HANSCOM Born in 1857 in Iowa to Alfred U. and Mary P. HANSCOM. He remained in Iowa until around the turn of the century, then moved to Medford, Oregon. His first wife was: LYDIA ANN WRIGHT (b.1861), whose parents had come from England. Horace and Lydia were married in 1878. They were divorced, and Horace married 2nd wife, a widow, Mrs. Carrie Savage. Horace and Lydia had 13 children. Horace died in Medford, Oregon.
9.WILLIAM HORACE HANSCOM Born July 24,1883 in Ononwa, Iowa to Horace and Lydia HANSCOM. He married MYRTLE GAY CLARK (b.Aug 9,1891) in Medford, Oregon. They had several children. William died in 1970 in Medford, Oregon.
