ALLY'S BACKSTREET EXPERIENCE!!
I went to the Backstreet Boys (into the millenium tour) concert at the Skydome in Toronto on Thursday November 11 1999. Their opening acts were Mandy Moore who was pretty good and EYC who pretty much sucked!! The show started with Star Wars music and the dancers holding lighted torches. All of a sudden there was a lot of dry ice and the Backstreet Boys came out of a big black box on their boogie-boards. They sang "Larger Than Life" while they performed their amazing choreographed dance. After the Backstreet Boys sang a few songs they each individually came onstage to say a few words. I remember AJ making the fans go wild when he told us that if he were to move anywhere (out of Florida) it would defiantly be Toronto. Since it was Remembrance Day in Canada (Memorial Day in the US) Kevin asked for a moment of silence to remember all the veterans who fought in the war. Although the stadium was pretty quiet, there were still those few un-cooperative fans that had to scream. The concert went on and they went flying again while they sang "Quit Playing Games." "Don't Want You Back" was amazing because AJ sang it with such UMPH! During the "Perfect Fan" they brought 5 daughters with their mothers on the stage and in the middle of the song each of the Boys walked one of the daughters around the stage. During the music break in the song, AJ was pretending to be a ballet dancer (it was really funny)!! Then there were sounds of thunder and lightening and the Backstreet Boys came out singing "Everybody (Backstreets Back)." Kevin introduced "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" as he told the fans that this was the last song Denniz Pop wrote before he passed away and they wanted to dedicate this song to him. During the concert while Nick was singing his voice was cracking and he sounded really weird. No one knew what was happening!! Throughout the show AJ was acting totally CRAZY and he was pouring water all over the fans. They came out for their first encore which was "It's Gotta Be You" and it was really high energy. Then each of the Backstreet Boys had their own band member and two dancers that they introduced. When it came to Nick's turn he could barley talk and he had almost lost his voice because he was sick. So Kevin took over for him. Then AJ said something like "who can I introduce" then he went on saying, "here's a new artist who is coming out with an album soon." While he walked up to the middle of the stage towards a guy in a black sweatshirt with a hood covering almost his whole face, he said "here's Sweet D" and Howie stared rapping. It was so funny I almost started pissing my pants. Then the Backstreet Boys came back out in these funky black and white pladd pants with music notes all over them and sang "I Want It That Way." Nick sang beautifully considering he was sick!! AJ IS THE BEST AND HES HOTT!! KTBPA!! I would have to say that was the best concert I've ever gone to…even better than the last Backstreet Boys concert!!
