Tim Merhar's Grandfather on his mom's side(Tec 4) in the AAF during WWII.

Clifford W. Wicklander(1913-1979)

My(Tim's) Grandfather was in the 1081st quarter master Company in the China Burma India theater of operations during WWII. He also served in the European theater for a short time and the American Theater during his basic training and when training to be a quartermaster. He was attached to the QM company because before the war he owned a clothing store in Braham, MN and was a grocery store manager prior to the outbreak of WWII. He was industed at Ft. Snelling on September 4, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 10, 1946. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp for 36 months as a supply clerk, and was in other training camp while in the Army for 3 months. He was an avid pilot and at one time had his Commercial Pilots license,he was a small town cop, and a happy go lucky person. It is from him that I get my love of aviation, and anything in the air.
