SUBJECT: Complaint Letters for Investigation of Allen C. Steere, Jr., MD
TO: All Lyme Patients and Their Families Everywhere!!
The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine is now considering an
investigation of Dr. Allen C. Steere, Jr., for misdiagnosing and/or refusing
to diagnose and adequately treat Lyme disease in patients with bonafide cases
of Lyme. At present, we have two substantial 'active' complaints.
However, it will take MANY MORE active complaints to trigger a full
investigation and force the Board of Registration to open up their archives.
(Massachusetts has, historically, had an abysmal record of NOT investigating
medical complaints. Usually 10 of 3,000 per year.)
We URGENTLY need the following Letters of Complaint NOW:
MISDIAGNOSIS OR REFUSED TREATMENT DUE TO:
1. direct contact with Dr. Allen Steere
2. direct contact with New England Medical Center (Tufts Univ.) in Boston
3. serological tests sent to Dr. Steere's Lab at New England Medical Center,
or
4. the DOCUMENTED or EXPRESSED influence of Dr. Steere on other physicians or
diagnostic centers.
ALL Letters of Complaint should be ADDRESSED and MAILED to:
Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine
ATTN: Consumer Protection Unit
10 West Street, 3rd Floor
Boston, MA 02111
COPIES of ALL Letters of Complaint should be FORWARDED to:
Massachusetts Lyme Disease Coalition
P.O. Box 1916
Mashpee, MA 02649
Thanks everyone. Please MOVE on this quickly! We all know what is at stake
in New York, Massachusetts and nationally regarding the future of effective
Lyme diagnoses and treatments!!

To Whom It May Concern:
I have been advised that your office recently received a complaint about
Allen C. Steere, Jr., MD, from XXXXX, RN, regarding his alleged misdiagnosis
and professional misconduct.
As a patient advocate representing many Lyme patients throughout
Massachusetts, I have heard numerous stories with similar content from other
patients who were referred to Dr. Steere at New England Medical Center.
These patients were also told that they did NOT have Lyme disease. As a
consequence, they went on to develop late-stage chronic Lyme with CNS
involvement.
Because of my concern for this PUBLIC HEALTH RISK here in Massachusetts, I am
URGING you to pursue two actions:
1. open an INVESTIGATION of Dr. Steere based on this complaint, and
2. open up the ARCHIVES which contain hundreds of known complaints about
Dr. Steere that have never been acted upon by this office in the past.
Thank you in advance for being responsive to and taking seriously this
important public health matter.
Sincerely,
John F. Coughlan

P.S. - I have recently been apprised that another new complaint (doc# ______)
has been filed against Dr. Steere with the MBRM by Mrs. XXXXX regarding her
family's tragic experience with SmithKline Beecham's OspA Lyme vaccine. In
light of allegations brought up against SKB in the current class action
lawsuit (in PA) and the recent Lymerix vaccine study that caused arthritis in
hamsters, I ask that you also take this complaint as seriously.
