Birth Of A Dragon
No warning, never has there been
totally unpredictable, it only comes when it wants
The egg, as large as a human,
shaped like any other egg
incubated, kept warm, it has been too long
Suddenly it shakes, noise from inside.
Stamping feet, roars of approval, encouragement
A flash of light, a roar of fire
In glitter of red, a showing of scales
the dragon child is born
Son of warriors, destined for power
but still a child, mewing in hunger
The wind heralds his coming
screaming through the mountains
The dragons child is born.
