Bio Title

Tony Rizzutto - 2000

My beginnings began in Bend, Oregon in 1946. After graduation in 1965, I attended Judson Baptist College, Portland, OR for 4 months. I met my wife of 32 years there. Due to lack of interest in studies, I joined the Marine Corps. I was sent to San Diego for torture camp in April, 1966. At the end I was sent to Infantry School and was made a Mortorman. While all my acquaintences (didn't have time to make friends) were sent to Viet Nam, I was sent to Naval Weapons Station, Fallbrook, California from Aug, 1966 to Aug, 1967. They discovered I could type so I became an 0141 - Admin man. After a year I received orders for Nam. While at Staging I passed a mock language test and was sent to Monterey, CA for Vietnamese Language School for 3 months. From there my military history is as follows:

  Dong Ha/Quang Tri, Vietnam - Nov67 - Nov68, CoD, 1stBn, 4th Marines, 3dMarDiv
Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Portland, OR Dec68-Mar70
  Camp Smith, Honolulu, Hawaii - Apr70 - May73
Marine Corps Air Base, El Toro, CA - May73 - Mar74

I received an Honorable Discharge and went to school in Portland, OR.
Portland Community College - AS, Social Science
Portland State University - BS, Psychology

I worked at Freightliner Corporation from 1976-1979 and was laid off. I joined the City of Portland in August, 1980 and have been an employee with 3 different bureaus, currently with the Hydroelectric Power Section of the Bureau of Water Works. My function is general clerical.

From 1976 to 1991, I was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves at Fort Vancouver, Washington. I started as a Supply Sergeant for Leadership Academy, 104th Division and served 10 years at the 6229th USAR School, 124th AR Command, as a classroom/drill field instructor for various Army programs. I retired as an E-8, Master Sergeant.

In June, 1999, I joined the Marine Corps League with the U.S.S. Oregon Detachment, No. 470, which meets in Beaverton, Oregon. I was elected as the Commandant on May 2000.

My wife, Julie, and I were married in Dec68. We have a son, 29 and daughter, 24. We are 22 year members of Rolling Hills Community Church, Tualatin, OR.

My hobbies are photography, woodcarving (TR Wood Arts), and learning web design since January 1999. I have made 9 web sites for woodcarvers and others and hope to make many more for payment in the near future.
