4/4/05

As of Friday 4/1/05, the pups have the run of the entire back bedroom.  Jan spent several hours laying down tarp and then putting other surface with better traction down over the top so the pups don't slip and slide (bad for their joints).

They also were introduced to the tunnel (a 12" diameter concrete form) on Friday.  After a few minutes calling the pups through the tunnel, we left them to their play.  Returning a few minutes later, almost all the pups had fallen asleep inside the tunnel.

Ran the vacuum cleaner near their pen in the living room this AM.  Last week they were unphased by it, but today all but Ancho ran to the back of the pen and huddled there with big eyes.  When I shut the "beast" off, Cayenne and Chipotle were the first to bounce back.

The pups were introduced to the great outdoors today and got to run around on the back patio for about 15 minutes.  They got to investigate two new surfaces (concrete and dirt/gravel) and lots of new outdoors objects like spruce twigs, pine cones, little grassy weeds and the wheels on the BBQ grill.

Grandpa Kilo and Momma Chili bounded around and played with the pups.

I was pleased to note that many of the pups are trotting as they move about outside.  Trotting instead of doing the puppy "bunny hop" is supposedly a sign of good structure.

The pups have been having fierce battles with each other, accompanied by much growling!

Ancho seems to be a jumper and likes to leap the bottom rail of Tabasco's (the African Grey) bird cage.
