Cabin was a dog that could do everything.  He was shown and coursed at the same time.   He finished his Field Championship in April 1986 and got his LCM (Lure Courser of Merit) in October 1986.  At the same time he was earning points in the show ring and had 14 points including one major.

In November 1986, while competing in California at the Turkey trials, Cabin severed a tendon.  After emergency surgery to put it back together, he returned home.  A week after the accident, he had to be rushed to the vets to have his cast cut off because the leg had swollen and he was in pain.

After months of physical therapy we discovered the extent of his injury - his tendon had separated and ultimately healed with a gap.

I became resigned to the fact that Cabin would probably never be shown again, and certainly would never finish.  Well, after a year, a friend said that Cabin moved just as well as most of the other dogs in the ring.  So we decided to enter him in a couple of shows, just to see what would happen.  He placed consistently and after five show he went WD, & BOW to get his missing major to finish!  After that time, Cabin was shown on a limited basis at specialties and parades.

Cabin has left this world but will never be forgotten.  He lives on in the hearts and thoughts of everyone who knew him.
