The Manse (1914)

The Manse
22735 NW Birch Street

In 1914, the Orenco Presbyterian Church built this residence (known affectionately as “the Manse”) to house the congregation's minister. The church paid $3,500 in cash and borrowed an additional $1,500 for its construction.

The one and one-half story Craftsman Bungalow features shed dormers on the front and rear elevations and also a brick chimney with two 12-paned sidelights. The projecting eaves are supported by exposed rafters with purlins and knee braces at the gable ends. Additionally, the front porch boasts a bell-cast roof, which is supported by boxed posts.

This home's interior is more formal than many Orenco residences. The floor plan includes a formal entry hall and stairway.
